Your word for the day is "carcinisation". The tendency for nature to evolve things into crabs.

I want to suggest that these might actually be crabs and not spiders
#Carcinisation
Crab, the ultimate lifeform.

> When the French Academy was preparing its first dictionary, it defined "crab" as "A small red fish which walks backwards."
> This definition was sent with a number of others to the naturalist Cuvier for his approval. The scientist wrote back:
> "Your definition, gentlemen, would be perfect, only for three exceptions. The crab is not a fish, it is not red, and it does not walk backwards."

Also, a friendly reminder of carcinisation, "the many attempts of Nature to evolve a crab."

@mothninja @TheBreadmonkey surely all museums become crab museums eventually? 🤔 #carcinisation
@lowqualityfacts That would actually be amazing. At least one hand. Like the crustaceans with one claw bigger than the other. #Carcinisation
@Chrono @Klaxun @sluttymayo and every lad a crab
Sleepy morning thought:
Carcinisation is where nature keeps turning things into crabs.
This makes me wonder if there's a linguistic equivalent to keep turning words into crabs.
The arc of the universe is long but it bends toward the crab 🦀

@Illdisposed bipedalism is a curse. The idea that it would evolve in parallel across light-years is preposterous. Four to walk, two to manipulate. #crabgang #carcinisation

@mhoye saw this last night and I'm guessing this is a kind of an answer to your question..
A great example of convergence of ideas.
Carcinisation and public transportation.

This is the future that the far right wants.
@pluralistic Incidentally, H.G. Wells clearly anticipated the discovery of #carcinisation in "The Time Machine". His nightmare vision of the world of the far future features a tidally-locked Earth populated by monstrous crabs.
Wells didn't mention hedge funds, but the Time Traveler was sufficiently horrified by the crabs that he fled without stopping to ask about the basics of their economy.
> I feel like there are now three constant processes in our world:
> 1) #Carcinisation - everything evolves to become a crab
> 2) #Financialization - eventually all business eventually turn into finance firms.
> 3) #Enshitification - all producers eventually strip-mine their reputations.
