Had a developer moment updating a project: "Man, this is no good; I should do something about it."

That's the judgy part. The part that wants to throw everything away and start over using my current knowledge, patterns, and understanding.

This is the distracting part.

The site still works. The code is well crafted for my knowledge, patterns, and understanding at the time. Time to start making notes of how to get "there" from "here."

Technical practices that make up #CodeCraft - developer testing, TDD, refactoring, separation of concerns, CI & CD - have a very simple value proposition: more throws of the dice. That this message doesn't seem to have permeated into management suggests we're just not communicating it very well. Or at all. I rarely see it mentioned by proponents of code craft. And in that sense, it hasn't really permeated software development, either.

I thought that I support the small team behind #codecraft on #amiga by buying the box. Remember that it is #opensource and they surely are happy by any kind of support. Maybe I can provide a demo template (though in C) to the project.
