I set out to 3D print a simple collimator sleeve for my Takahashi telescope. Easy, right? Wrong. My first three attempts were complete disasters — warped, cracked, and just plain useless. Diego and I drove into regional Victoria to fix a telescope dome because apparently that’s our life now.

We adjusted the focuser (it was vibing wrong), tried to mount a Celestron C14 on a pier (it said “no”), and realized we need an adapter the size of my ego.

It was dusty. It was weirdly emotional. One of us almost cried (me).

This is what happens when you give two guys tools, a telescope, and zero adult supervision. 🔧🔭🚙

Installed a cat door today. Except now it’s a bizarre, art-deco skylight, and the cat is still on the wrong side. At this point, I’m questioning every life choice that led me here.

Wooden interior door with an accidentally misplaced cutout intended as a cat door. The triangular opening is positioned near the top corner of the door instead of near the bottom, rendering it unusable for a cat. Light from the other side is visible through the awkwardly placed opening.

🔧 Just another weekend in the life of a dedicated Maker... Spent hours buried under mountains of PLA, tweaking every imaginable 3D printer setting, convinced that I’m just one step away from perfection. 😤 Only to discover the true enemy: PLA that’s soaked up every drop of moisture from sitting too long in the garage!
