Two rail tracks with ties missing or looking damaged are visible through the span. The span’s trunnion (axle) is on the near side, so the bridge angles up from the viewer.

The bridge itself and the trestle leading to it from both shores are rusted and covered with graffiti, including some on the stone piers rising from the river to the trestle. The supports for the overheat catenary wires still straddle the trestles. Because the bridge span is upright, someone painted an elaborate “TLC” in white at the base of the locked span, facing the viewer. A person climbed the upright (at a 60 degree angle) span and raised a Ukrainian flag from the top of the span.
