My pet cafe peeves:
1. Wanting you to order via a QR code and then finding you have to open an account with a 3rd party menu provider to order things and they want your life details and then you decide no thanks and order from the counter then realise that you have wasted a lot of time and it would have been quicker and less invasive of privacy if you had ordered from the counter in the first place instead of fiddling around with some stupid app.
2. Having to use Google to try to decipher the menu because they insist on using words that no ordinary person uses.
3. Tea that you pay for and is simply a tea bag and a teapot of hot water

Hmmmm. Thali.
I thought, you know, thali. Indian dishes in small pots on a round plate (thali) with rice, pickles, etc etc.
Turns out their thali is 2 curries (Dal Makhani and a Paneer dish) with rice, roti and a raita. I had to ask for, and pay for, pickles.
A little disappointed, but the 2 curries were very good - not spicy enough, they are STILL dulled down even tho this is my umpteenth visit and I ask them every time to give me "Indian Spicy". Only once they got it right 🤣
But very good.
Kulcha is better.
(and they can't make a decent masala chai for quids. I order one every time, I never learn.)
(the very very best masala chai I have had outside of India was from a food cart that used to be in the carpark of the big Indian bazaar on Main North Road. I'd go and get some things just to order their chai. Heavenly!)
This is why I don't got out. This spot was 25 miles away from where I live. The person lives 5 miles from me.
That 25 mile drive cost 35 minutes to an hour.
This one hour lunch cost me 5 hours of my day. I do not have the day off from work. Now I need to compensate for my absence by working part of the weekend.
Highly-anticipated chicken restaurant Wingstop set to open in Swansea
Wingstop will open in Swansea on Monday, February 3. The restaurant will open at 41 Wind Street and will be open from 11am to 11pm every day.
Wingstop currently operates 57 sites across the UK, employing more than 2,500 people, following a rapid expansion programme.
The business opened 18 new locations last year, including a site at Cardiff in May 2023.
As its name suggests, the restaurant specialises in chicken wings as well as boneless wings and tenders which are freshly hand tossed and sauced to order.
They range in heat, mild ‘Hawaiian’ at the lowest end of the scale (described as a “sweet and tangy blend of island citrus balanced with rich Asian flavours) and fiery ‘Atomic’ at the top.
Other options on the menu include a ‘Big Flavour Burger’ and churros. Platters, including the 24-piece wings platter and the 24-piece boneless platter, are also available.
Chris Sherriff, chief executive at Wingstop UK, said:
“2024 has been a landmark year for Wingstop UK, marked by record site openings, a new flagship location and industry accolades.
“This year we are poised for even greater growth, with plans to expand into new regions and create hundreds of jobs.
“Thank you to the brilliant work of all our employees, who drive us to keep growing, whilst providing a personalised and authentic experience to wing-lovers up and down the country.
“There is huge momentum and we can’t wait to bring our flavours to more areas across the UK.”

From #Norfolk last week, a nicely marked Red Kite was eating its prey. I've often seen them flying of course so it was a little different and special to see one devouring its prey on the ground. Those eyes!

That would be a shame!

This should be the norm in every restaurant.
If you want to do it your way, eat at home. (looking at you people from a certain nationality who always resquest changes to the dishes you order in restaurants.)

You see, #whitecapsfc #vwfc aren't all that great, it is hard to imagine them winning anything big. Beating derby rivals away in a playoff feels really good but it is not the height of heights. But you need to enjoy the good times. "Beat Portland 5-0" is not a bad restaurant but it's not as good a restaurant as #mls cup or CONCACAF Champions league. But Caps fans don't get to dine out often so we are going to tuck in, order a second bottle of wine and get both desserts! #eatingout #mastodonfc
🍽️ We had the most incredble meal at a new local restaurant last night. Marceline, in Canary Wharf. From start to finish, it was a wonderful experience. Food, service, ambience. I had the biggest and best serving of Moules Frites in my life. Thoroughly recommended if you’re in the neighbourhood. https://marceline.london
How do Lembongan island eating out experiences compare to Bali?
Food can make or break a journey around Asia. If our Lembongan island eating out experiences were as good as Ubud, we were in for a treat…

The #Vancouver Bells and Whistles #restaurant on Dunbar is closing. I really liked eating there. Fortunately, there's another one on Fraser. Also, the same group operates Lucky Tacos and Bufala, another pair of my favourites.
