One from my archives: The South Dakota-class battleship Massachusetts (BB-59), launched in Sept. 1941 and which has been a museum ship at Battleship Cove in Fall River, MA since 1965. The Charles M. Braga Jr. Memorial Bridge carrying Route 195 over the Taunton River between Somerset and Fall River (or, as some of the locals jokingly say, the USA and Portugal) is behind it.

Happy Holidays from #FallRiver and #SignalThirteen - may no critters be stirring.

What can best be described as a Lovecraftian Christimas Ornament, where a central Tree in a old fashioned glass ornament with twisted, almost tenticlelike branches. A red thread goes through a hole in the top of the ornament so that it can be hung on a Christmas Tree.

In Hatchet Girls, by Diana Rodriguez Wallach, teenager Mariella Morse’s parents are found brutally murdered, Borden-style, in modern-day Fall River just a few blocks away from where the famous forty-whacks happened.
