The J.I. Case Threshing Machine Co., founded in 1842, revolutionized threshers by building steam-powered machines out of steel, instead of wood.

I know literally nothing about farm machinery but these ghosts of the farming past can be found at the Rimbey farm museum, which is a favourite stopping over point for my many road trips to northern Alberta to visit family.

I tried to find info on this model online but couldn't confirm what type of engine this one was running on.

The first photo shows "Old Abe," a bald eagle who was the mascot of the 8th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment in the American Civil War.

Old Abe has a very interesting and lengthy Wikipedia page dedicated to him. That bird lived a full life!

Just a pre-breakfast workout turning oat straw into chaff.

No need to tell us it needs an oil and the blades sharpened. She's on the list for some serious TLC, but what a wonderful tool - augmenting the human body and yet giving us an opportunity to save on gym fees... (haven't seen the inside of a gym in just shy of 40 years). The idea of expending energy to achieve nothing beyond exercise seems like... an exercise in futility.

Retired Farm Machinery.

The local heritage museum has a collection of antique farm machinery. All have seen better days. But I love how the iron has oxidized. There is so much texture and history present.

Dreaming of the Road.

The old tractor I've shot before had moved, had chance to chat with the owner and he very kindly let me go in the field to get more shots.

It was heading to scrap but farmer has re-engined it instead so it will still carry on working the farm 😁
