Today I visited the JASDF Museum at Hamamatsu Air Base. Admission is free and you can even sit in several of the aircraft.
The museum also offers the opportunity to fly simulators, and since the airbase is right next door, it seems to be a popular photo spot.
Cold start comparisons of modern fighter planes:
Gripen, 95 seconds.
F-35, 14 minutes.
Canada’s choice of aircraft should be clear.
12 and a half minutes is forever in modern warfare. IRBM’s from USA could wipe out bases, without time for F-35’s to even start!
But Gripens? They would still have a chance of escape, after launches would be detected.
