I just heard that Bill Moyes passed away this September at the age of 92. He was a hang-gliding pioneer and fearless pilot who effectively founded the sport in the 1960s. An inspirational figure to all those who participate in freeflight. RIP.

And finally: A looong glide (plus two thermals) from the Weissmies peak (4017m) down to Domodossola (240m).
That flight took a bit of planning. The direct route over Passo di Pontimia would have been shorter, but the Valle di Bognanco looks pretty unlandable. So we took the slightly longer route via Passo d'Andolla and the Valle d'Antrona.

My in between everything else project for the last couple of days has been this "Cloud Tramp" rubber #freeflight plane. Theres a commemorative mass launch event in the UK on the 5th August and a few of the local crew are gonna fly em.
It's been almost 5 years since I quit paragliding due to an almost very bad accident (dodged a bullet) but I can still relate to this. The highs are amazing - no pun intended - but it is also a fantastic exercising in hours, days, weeks or even months of "parawaiting" for those epic flights.
But I still have no regrets - free flight using nothing but solar power (wind and thermals) is amazing.
A friend of mine who allows her #parrots to #FreeFlight in her home, uses similar vests to keep the bird poop from messing the house, and also for harnesses to leash and keep them from flying away outdoors.
It might sound weird to non-bird people, but it's actually very practical.

The first of the tiny "Burn Baby Burn" #PCB's that arrived from @oshpark the other day has been assembled and tested! Works well. Useful for cutting nylon line or rubber bands for #HAB cutaway, #Rocketry stuff, #Parachute reefing, #Freeflight dethermalising etc!
