Biden pulls back on tightened car and truck fuel standards
"Under the rule, formally known as the Corporate Average #FuelEconomy standards, all light-duty vehicles overall must meet an average of 50.4 mpg in 2031, down from 55.7 mpg in last yearβs proposal. The current average is 39.1 mpg.
For SUVs and pickups, the requirement will be 45 mpg. Thatβs up from the 35.2 mpg they average now, but itβs less than the 52.2 mpg that the agency had proposed last year."
