from a mailing, and referencing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXpSxDIwc5A, "And she discovered something else you should know about. Just a couple of months after supporting Alberta’s push for another pipeline to the BC coast, the Liberal government quietly gutted its marine spill response program in January. They laid off the experts who are called on when marine life and wildlife are in harm’s way from toxic spills. The kind of spills that happen frequently, we just don’t hear about them because they’re not big enough to make the news.
When Elizabeth raised these layoffs in the House of Commons, even Liberal MPs were taken by surprise."
This is why I am having a lot of difficulties believing in PM Carney is other than just a good speaker.

Full disclosure for Canadian folks.
Yes I am an #NDP member.
I have also been a Green Party (Federal) member. #gpc
I have always been on the orange/green fence. This post explains my history and current thinking about parties and this moment in Canada.
I had never been a member of any party, then I voted in the GPC leadership race with Annamie Paul and Dimitri Lascarsis because I wanted to make a difference more than just talking online…
When that party disintegrated, I left, but had got the taste… so then I joined the BCNDP to participate in their leadership campaign after Horgan. I supported the upstart Appadurai who got disqualified… but she made a splash and a very very important point!
So I stuck around… and now I am going to vote in the Federal NDP leadership because I see a couple really good candidates that could push Canada in a #democraticSocialist direction.
I encourage others to do the same. Canada and Canadians need real options right now. Liberal, NDP, and others. Be involved. Become a member even if you don’t think you’ll stick. Be involved.
After the leadership vote I will likely let my membership lapse and go back to being a free agent… towing a party line is not my style…
But it is important in this moment in the world to fight for what you believe in, so that’s why I am voting in the NDP leadership.
I know I will be voting for one or more of these depending how the voting works.

Welsh Government hands GPs £41m pay boost after threat of dispute
The deal, struck between ministers, NHS Wales and the General Practitioners Committee (GPC) Wales, includes a 4% uplift to the general medical services contract in 2025‑26 — in line with independent DDRB recommendations — and a guaranteed 5.8% recurrent funding uplift from 2026‑27.
Health Secretary Jeremy Miles said the package “demonstrates our unwavering commitment to general practice in Wales,” adding:
“The 4% pay uplift ensures fair recognition for GPs and practice staff who work tirelessly to deliver care for communities across our country.”
What’s in the deal
The settlement delivers £37.9m in fresh investment, backed up by £4m re‑deployed from capacity funding, to shore up surgeries for 2025‑26. Alongside the pay rise, there’s a 1.77% uplift for expenses to help practices cope with spiralling costs, and a recurrent £20m injection to stabilise services and prepare for reform.
The partnership premium is also being boosted to keep experienced GPs in the system and make partnerships more attractive — a move aimed at securing continuity of care for patients. And in a significant step, the government has promised the first full review in more than 20 years of the allocation formula for the General Medical Services contract, raising hopes that funding will finally reflect the realities of today’s communities.
Hard‑won agreement
But the deal didn’t come easily. Doctors had warned they were prepared to enter a formal contract dispute and even ballot for collective action if ministers failed to meet their demands.
Dr Gareth Oelmann, chair of the BMA’s GP committee in Wales, said:
“This settlement provides much‑needed stability for practices and recognises the tireless work of GPs and their teams. But it comes against a backdrop of years of underinvestment, and we will continue to press for a fairer share of NHS funding for general practice.”
Committee members unanimously backed the final package, describing it as a stabilising step that gives practices the certainty they need to plan ahead. The profession, however, made clear that trust has been strained by years of underfunding — and that the promised review of the allocation formula will be a crucial test of whether funding really reflects the needs of today’s communities.
Wider concerns
Critics warn the funding boost doesn’t undo a decade of decline. The BMA has pointed out that the share of NHS Wales spending on general practice has dropped from 8.7% to just 6% since 2005 — a slide described as “like turning a supertanker.” Only last year, almost 99% of Welsh GPs rejected a government contract offer, underlining how fragile confidence remains.
Miles insisted the multi‑year deal will allow practices to invest in transformation and deliver more care closer to home. Working groups are also being set up to improve access standards and tackle diabetes prevention, with GPs actively involved in shaping new service models.

Nobody with any sense will trust Carney after this. This is why he wants a majority - he plans to ram through whatever he wants, no compromises, no review.
"I told that to the PMO and said, ‘This is unacceptable, I gave my word to Elizabeth, we gave our word as a party to Elizabeth, and we're betraying our word to her.’”
Elizabeth May calls the Prime Minister of Canada a liar while trying not to. I wish she was wrong.
"the memorandum of understanding Prime Minister Mark Carney signed with Alberta Premier Danielle Smith on energy — specifically the part that applies federal tax credits to enhanced oil recovery — amounted to a "significant betrayal and a reversal" which has her questioning the worth of Carney's word.”

This is the newly elected leader of the Green Party of BC.
The Liberal Party screwed him and then abandoned him. He should cross to another party. The Greens need a leader.
"Finally, over the past few months, several elements of the climate action plan I worked on as Minister of the Environment have been, or are about to be, dismantled: the consumer carbon pricing, the Zero Emission Vehicle standard, the oil and gas sector emissions cap, the framework to eliminate fossil fuel subsidies, and the Clean Electricity Regulations."
Leader of the BC Greens @emilylowan has some choice words.
"This pipeline will never happen, and we'll make f*ing sure of it”

CBC reporting that Elizabeth May has said she will be voting for the budget tonight. Which means the Liberals only need one more vote for it to pass, or for two MPs to abstain.
Seems unlikely we will have an election from this budget vote... but you never know!

Efekt Kalifornii.

Solar and Wind is overtaking fossil fuel electricity. The clean energy transition is happening. It is accelerating. And Canada, with its daily drama of “pipeline politics” led by grifters and so-called “populists” is nowhere to be found. A non-player. An energy backwater. Irrelevant.

🛰️ Universal opt-outs are becoming law.
Global Privacy Control (GPC) is required in California & Connecticut, with New Jersey enforcement starting July 15 2025.
For B2B orgs, that means adjusting consent frameworks, analytics tags & vendor agreements now—not after enforcement hits.
