#GoHugo

I haven't seen many documentation sites that are as tough to navigate as the one for .

The fact that the pages within any category are sorted alphabetically, so "Getting Started" ends up somewhere in the middle, does not help at all.

For the first time, I created a Pull Request which got merged.
🎉 🔥

I am really happy about this.
And I am especially happy as this is a tiny little contribution to the open source world: #openstreetmap and #gohugo .

The Jamstack SSG #Hugo / #GoHugo is alive and kicking! This what I love with the Hugo community. 🫶🏽

I decided to go with Hugo static website generator for my own website/blog for now.

The quick start guide is pretty nice, but it gets more complicated after that. Lots to learn.

Didn't totally let go of hosting a WordPress site but that'll have to wait a bit. Needed a quick fun project to get started as people mentioned in an earlier post of mine. Don't want to have another forever-project.

I'm a little annoyed as I had to update the Hugo Theme, but it's totally overwritten all of the custom changes I made 🤦‍♂️. So i no longer have the "more from" or the nice Social header when sharing.
I've also lost the subject lines too.
Ugh, add that to the list in January then...

Y todavía no le integré los comentarios, estaba usando Disqus pero desde el minimalismo y la privacidad es un asco. ¿Alguien probó hugo-mastodon-comments o algo similar para integrar comentarios desde el Fediverso? #Hugo #Fediverso #GoHugo.io

Made my first little contribution to @gohugoio documentation yesterday! It's about installing #dartsass in the CI workflow on #Sourcehut Builds, which I'm using to deploy my Hugo site to my static host of choice: Bunny.net.

(libsass is deprecated in Hugo)

I learnt a bit more Git during the pull request too—about rebasing, but I'm still not very good at it (merging the changes is a bit confusing to me).

Welcome to Hugo upgrade day. The latest version is really unhappy about a problem in an older posting when I run "hugo new". Why is it even parsing the older entries at that point?

Can't make this up ...

Current main projects:

  • #ecobj: Another piece of the #Psion SIBO SDK rewrite puzzle. ECOBJ.EXE takes an Intel OMF file (.OBJ) for a class and moves the class descriptor data into the code segment. I think I might be able to get this working by the end of the year.
  • Get my website running #GoHugo (this is almost done!).
  • #CTRAN: Still haven't started writing unit tests. Also, complete a full write-up of what it took to get the thing working.
  • Research into compilers: I'm nowhere near ready to start yet, but I'm learning as much as I can.

Upcoming projects:

  • #siboimg: Rewrite in Pascal, and add the ability to create and modify FEFS images.
  • #plptools: I'd like to see two-way transfer working for EPOC16 -- I'm sure I'll need the help of the rest of the maintainers to get this working. I can't do much with the #HaikuOS port until the USB serial drivers are "fixed" (hardware flow control added) -- I don't think I have the skills for this, so it'll have to wait until some kind soul has the time to work on it.
  • #PsiDrive: Add a ~17V boost converter to allow writing to Flash SSDs.
  • NAS/home server: Rebuild or replacement of DEATH, my Microserver gen8. It's been over 18 months since DEATH's RAID died. It's lead me to thinking that maybe I don't need the sort of server I thought I need. TBD.

Maybe next year, maybe not:

  • New Psion SSD with RP2350: I doubt I'll get anything made, but I'd like to experiment to see what can be done with the protocol.
  • Rewrite the rest of the SIBO C SDK tools.
  • Compiler: Recreation of the JPI/Clarion TopSpeed C compiler, targeting the SIBO/EPOC16 platform (8086 and V30). I was hoping to get going with this around July this year, but it just didn't happen. This is my Everest. I know I'm not ready yet. I need to train for it.
  • Vine: New word processor for EPOC16. Trying to start this project in 2023 lead me to rewriting the SDK, so we're quite some way away from getting this done.
  • Research into Objective-C: Not Foundation, just the syntax. For compiler shenanigans.

I've really struggled to get going with projects this year. That's fine, these things happen. But I'd like to find better ways to cope next year so that I can make a little more progress.

Ok fediverse, I think I might ask for some advice. I think of migrating a website from Wordpress to Hugo, but have NexGenGallery installed and use nggallery shortcodes in pages and posts. How can I migrate these shortcodes to real links? So that I can migrate the whole content from wordpress to markdown and have valid links in my posts. Boosts appreciated, thanks. #fedihelp #wordpress #gohugo #gohugoio @gohugoio

@marcusolsson, I’ve been trying to get the code #GoHugo shortcode template you describe in

marcusolsson.dev/how-to-includ

Is there a complete copy of `code.html` available?

Thank you for one of the clearest descriptions of a useful shortcode. I’m trying to avoid having to learn the Go templating language properly, but I seem to find myself getting forced into it.

@nm Yeah, a rather similar reason (upcoming breakage that I had no desire/energy to deal with) that I'm sticking with <checks notes> Hugo v0.119.0.

And if _that_ ever stops working, I'm more likely to redo it with a different SSG than to get things working again with the latest and greatest version.

Gonna find a nice blog-oriented theme for Hugo tbh, I like the concept and execution of Hugo but not a fan of the Kayal theme I have and I want something a bit more blog-oriented.

Suggestions welcome btw but do know I'm looking round.
