I've not really posted anything on my #blog for a while, and one of the reasons was that every time I tried to, I ended up having to work on catching up on a bunch of #hugo changes before the blog would build because inevitable on one of my four "main" machines, the blog wouldn't build due to some backward-incompatible changes.

Any recommendation for a static site generator that takes backward compatibility a bit more seriously? I've used #Jekyll in the past but I haven't looked into the state of that ecosystem for years.

My strong preference would be for a static site generator written in #clojure, #ClojureScript, #CommonLisp or #emacslisp. Preferably one that integrates well with #isso for comments.

Not interested in a more "dynamic" system like Ghost - I moved away from WordPress quite a while ago to reduce the amount of maintenance and attack surface, and I don't want to go back.

What is, these days, a good way to host a #blog? I've been using a #hugo static website generator, linking Github with Netlify, but I'm looking to update everything, and at least love away from Github.
Preferably: static, not too difficult (I'm not a techie at all), lightweight, can use own domain, maybe migrate my posts seamlessly too (they're now easily stored in markdown files).

I forked my Hugo theme and started applying all my overrides into the fork! Maybe one day, I'll share the theme publically... 🤔 Finally, I can work on cleaning up the worse mess: CSS. I can't wait to have a much cleaner style sheet!

By the way, the branches are looking cool! Merged my first branch already. ;)

I was looking for my personal knowledge management system. How can I store documents, how can I interconnect them, how can I build something that I can use on Mac/Linux/Win - and that stores data locally. Easy to read, no magic, just plain text (references can be everything). In the end - I ended with #emacs #orgmode with the addition of small helpers like #org-attach (builtin). The knowledge articles are stored in #org-roam, org-attach stores the data in org-roam-directory/data using IDs. If I store a document I create a reference node that has the attachment in it - from there I crosslink to my org notes. Simple, no fuzz. Just Emacs and some lousy config lines. Did I mention, that I blog from there as well? The blog posts for my blog (https://node01.de) are nodes inside org-roam, that will be published using ox-hugo to a 2nd repo and are published statically to a webserver.

I am on a role at the moment:
I wanted to create a shortcut to build and deploy my HUGO site from the Windows desktop. This involved calling rsync and hugo from a sh script in the linux subsystem, So I have a batch file that calls a shell script and that runs the commands back to back.
It works!
May do a post later on how it was achieved...

OK so I've learned a couple really neat things about #HUGO and #RSS feeds (thanks to an inquiry by @me):

- Hugo generates basic RSS feeds automagically
- It pulls author & email from your hugo.toml configuration
- (and this is REALLY NEAT): You can include a "feed reference", which will make compatible browsers (like #Vivaldi) display that lil "Page offers feeds" in the address bar!!
