The single acorn comes from the oak tree and can be found on the ground all around town in autumn. The nut is a favored food among the wild critters who store them all over the place and then in spring, the acorn seed will begin to sprout. I created this watercolor drawing after reading about the little acorn symbol as a good luck charm to protect one's health. I remember fairy tales about the properties of acorns. There are abouyt 170 varieties of the fleabanes flower in north america. The Daisy Fleabane are the host plants for the Lynx Flower Moth (Schinia lynx) This wildflower blooms in late spring. It grows in clusters of 40-100 blossoms. "The Cherokee and other Native American tribes used Philadelphia fleabane for a variety of medicinal purposes including epilepsy. A poultice was made from the plant to treat headaches. Colorful Paperclips - A colorful macro photograph of paperclibs on a white background. The first patent for a bent wire paperclip was created in 1867, given to Samuel B. Fay. Its origianl use was intended to hold tickets to fabric without damaging the fabric. The simple three-bend oval paperclip we know today was created by the Gem Manufacturing Company in Britain, and since there was no patent for it, historians have to guess when it was made. They suspect it was created in 1870, and it was introduced to the Americas around 1892. Paperclips were even used as a symbol of rebellion, briefly during World War II.
