@juliette I just pre registered for a phone appointment with my PCP and it tried to force me to agree that they can share my private health information with whoever they want if they think there’s a good reason to.
It’s linked to the consent to treat and authorization to bill insurance in the two practices I have seen use it. I don’t know if it helps me but instead of typing my name in the signature line I type “I do not consent to HIE ever” (HIE is their acronym for Health Information Exchange)
At Dartmouth I couldn’t check in for my mammogram without “signing” it. It’s gross.
When I was using an HCA hospital more than a decade ago they still carried paper charts and they had to put a red piece of paper in mine so the staff wouldn’t send out referrals without my permission. (I was a DV victim and my abuser owned a chain of medical practices.)

Here is what #HCA is doing at #Mission hospital in my #Asheville community. They have destroyed what was once a world-class hospital system, and left our community afraid to venture into their ER because of their lack of funding and staffing.
