Also, #SuspicuousDevelopments' first game #Gunpoint was similarly excellent, and similarly full of throwing people out of windows in progressively more ludicrous ways.

I haven't played their second game, #HeatSignature yet but I'm going to have to get that too at some point.

I absolutely adored Tom Francis's debut game in #Gunpoint. It was one of my games of that year. #HeatSignature didn't land at all however, but this, this looks very nice indeed.

Tom Francis is the author of the absolutely lovely Heat Signature, and is talking about moving from a complicated structure on the left (but one which is hard for players to track or understand) to a boring one where each zone is compact, on the right.

What makes a spaceship into a level? A sense of progression, and it needs to be obvious to the players that they're progressing.

But... how do we make the game fresh when the level differences are "trivial nonsense"? "If you can't make the shuffle interesting, make more interesting cards".

Technically I am a software dev but tbh the only real consequences that job/interest has gotten me are a lot of #gender #dysphoria and some cool socks.

Im a never ending source of useless information and listen to a lot of different genres of music and always hope to find new artists I can listen to. A few of my favourite genres are #glitchpop, #breakcore and #jumpstyle.

I play a lot of different video games and when I say a lot I mean a lot. From indie gems like #DeadCells, #Boomeraxe, #Ultrakill and #HeatSignature to some multiplayer games like #ApexLegends, #LeagueOfLegends(Ouch I know). I also played a lot of #BaldursGate3 and #DarkestDungeon wehn it comes to turnbased games. So if you got any recommendations, especially niche indie banger.

I am also very interested in #Reading, #Writing and more recently #Acting. And been wanting to write some #Fantasy texts. I would be very interested in other #Authors sharing their creative process and ways of #Worldbuildung . On a similiar note I love #TTRPG 's, although Im pretty new to this so I have ever only tried #DND and a slither of #Pathfinder

I'm #queer in enough ways to qualify as bowl of letter soup, and go by ae/aer primarily and she/her pronouns. I am #polyamorous, with a heavy preference for the kitchen table variety.

I'm assured that I am neurodivergent from several people, but often I think I'm just #complicated, #obnoxious, don't have a good grasp on human interaction, and generally speak like a pedantic textbook.

I'm a polytheistic #pagan and turned my back on the Christianity that my father preached - I guess it's true what they say about the kids of the preacher and the miller's cattle.

I am #German by nationality, #Frisian by heritage, and after moving through Germany quite a bit currently live in the #LowerRhine region.

I speak #German and #English confidently, can understand enough #Dutch to possibly not get lost too much, and have a pitiful grasp of #EastFrisian. Thanks to #TheHu, I want to learn #Mongolian at some point.

I love #writing (if I can get myself to pick up the plotted out, in parts drafted 4 novel project again) and #photography. I have a complicated relationship with #sewing that contains a lot of profanity in the process.

I have a varied taste for #gaming mainly on the PC, where depending on my current obsession I'll mostly play things like #Skyrim, #KerbalSpaceProgram, #Terraria, #HeatSignature, #Cyberpunk2077 or another old favourite of mine, which might be something vintage PC from the 90s, or even something from the #Amiga500.

I like #scifi and #fantasy, and would give a lot for a resurrected #Pratchett. The world needs his kind of anger now more than ever. I also love things #space! Always a bonus: a well-built #villain or not squeaky clean character.

Listen, I'm not actually qualified to say if the soundtrack is good or bad. What I can tell you is that I enjoy vaguely retro and chiptunesque stuff and I literally forgot I didn't have music on because the feel for the game just seemed so spot on.

But the game? This is amazing. This is lovely. And this is so many ways to play it's almost a bit scary.

If they've got good generators, this game might be quite evergreen; there could be new challenge maps regularly for a decade.
