I was about to celebrate a sudden increase in downloads on itch, when I read a post in an itch subreddit, saying that the poster had a lot of downloads without corresponding views (like me). Others commented that the same happened to them and that it's probably bots scraping free games (for AI training? how?). Celebration cancelled, but I don't get the reason. Any ideas? Why would they do this?

Strength is good for physical things like punching, swinging a sword, swinging across a chasm on a rope, or lifting and carrying things or people around.
Magic is good for casting a spell. See the spell list.
Skill is everything else, and is pretty handy. Your character has been around, and knows how to do all sorts of things. You make a Skill check whenever you want your character to do a particular action that isn't clearly related to one of the other characteristics, like pick a lock, or use a bow and arrow.
You can also use your Skill score as a resource. You can loan one skill point to Strength or Magic when you roll one of those checks. This will temporarily lower your Skill score by 1. Suppose your character's Skill score is 4, and their Strength score is 3. You can loan a Skill point to make it 4 for one check, and your Skill score is temporarily 3.
There are two other ways to use your Skill score as a resource. You can deduct one from Skill if your character has a Health score of 1 and would take some damage. You can also use a Skill point as described in the section about gear.
Health is how well you can take some damage from a fight, or from not eating for a few days, or falling some distance to the ground, or swimming for a long time, or staying up until dawn, for example. Deduct a health point whenever the referee lets you know your character gets worn out or hurt.

His wings spread out behind him and are mostly cropped by the graphic's constraints. Regrettably, as of typing, this game does not have any purposeful built-in accessibility functions for low-vision or blind users. The general consensus on the play experience is that it's a really nice typing game but the demon (and the accompanying main gameplay conceit of typos coming back to haunt you) can go jump in a lake.
