Last year, on a trip to Scotland, I included some stops to see places my great-grandmother mentioned in her memoirs. I just finished a post about some of these spots: https://www.hotelexistence.ca/my-scottish-roots/

The amazingly well preserved Clickimin Broch on the south-west edge of Lerwick in Shetland. The site was first occupied around three thousand years ago, with the main structure dating back around two thousand years. I went to town for the day - Lerwick. Nice to escape, even if it was for the dentist.

We took both the dogs to town. One got his hair cut and the other was my companion and went shopping with me. Nice day.

The air was filled with the sounds of laughter and chatter, punctuated by the distant notes of bagpipes echoing through the streets. The flickering lights from the torches that the participants carried danced in the fading daylight, casting vibrant shadows on the historical architecture of Lerwick.
