We're playing the "Is it covid?" game again..

I spent time in a car with 7 other people on Monday when I dropped the car in to be serviced, and I was the only one masked (of course).

I feel like shit now - headache, temperature, body aches, exhausted. The initial test is negative, so here's hoping it's a fibro flare up and nothing else.

Greg arrives on the 8th for 3 weeks, so if I have covid I'm going to be pissed.. It took me almost 8 weeks to get over it when I got it in 2022, and I don't want to miss out in time with him.

Have had a rough day today. I did too much yesterday and bad sleep got me very worn...
So by lunch I felt I needed some love. As I pick up my phone to text and ask Slow Lori for some digital hugs I notice she has texted me. The message says:

I spent all the Easter days with Slow Lori. So many things happened that I really wished I had written about them day by day so I might come back to these during the week. But here are some of the highlights one day at a time 💚

💚 Thursday:
- Did a morning walk with one of my close polyfriends updating each other on life. 👣
- Went to a dance evening with Slow Lori. Getting to meet some of her friends from that part of her life and got the question "So you are [name]s...?" Answer "Yes, one of her three partners." This after a casual conversation where polyamory was mentioned as a context Slow Lori and I was involved in. 💃
- I feelt a bit possessive (wanting Slow Lori for myself) before the dance as I arrived only a few hours before, so we only had some driving and dinner time to land together. And I was nervous for the evening. We talked about how to build safety and luckily the possessiveness didn't stay with me once the dance night started. It was an unusual feeling for me and I was happy we could "face/handle" it together ❤️‍🩹

I'm free!

Greg's wife left for Paris this morning, so I can safely leave the room and wander around the house.

Greg has had to go into the office today, so I'm pmuch alone until he's back home at 6pm. It feels great not to be hiding away in a tiny room.. I might actually go out for a bit of a walk later.

I'm still unwell.

I think it's basically a viral thing causing my sinuses to congest and then I get these coughing jags when the gunk in my sinuses drain. My lungs feel completely clear, I'm not running a temp at all. I've tested negative for covid multiple times.

Greg's wife is heading to Paris for a couple of days with her other-husband, so we're desperate to make sure she doesn't catch anything from me.. which means I'm locked up in the study, and once a day I travel downstairs with a mask on to have a shower and then clean down the bathroom afterwards. People are bringing up food and drinks and leaving them outside the door for me, and Greg's wife and I are about to have a video call with each other to chat because we miss each other and talking through the door isn't cutting it.

Greg is working in the office today, but has been quarantined with me while at home. He's not sick, but the other option was to be separated from each other and neither of us want that. At the moment I'm feeling sad and lonely, because he's not here and I get really sooky when I'm not well.

I'm sick, and when I get sick... when anything hits my immune system hard, I get mouth ulcers (I think some people call them canker sores). I have one one the side of my tongue which is super sore and I keep accidentally biting it.

One of the things I do at home which helps really effectively is dabbing some Vegemite onto it. The Vegemite stings like fuck, but it cuts the swelling right down so the sore becomes less sore and less likely to be bitten. I tried Marmite this morning, and not only did it not work, but it tastes horrible.

Greg just rummaged through the pantry and found the jar of Vegemite I brought with me for everyone to try the first time I visited in 2018.. so yay!

Vegemite on my tongue and Vicks in my feet - Aboriginal medicine, I'm gonna feel better in no time!

Each time I'm in the UK I plan on writing a daily run down of the things we did and then never do more than just the first few days.

I always feel like it's a failure on my part, because it's something that I want to do but then don't.. which my brain picks up and runs with the story of being a failure, being lazy, being stupid etc.

But, I think what actually happens is that for the few weeks I'm here I step into being in the moment more than I usually am at home. So I'm not inclined to recount the day's experiences for posterity, because I actually experienced them and don't need to. It's an interesting shift in focus, especially as someone who often feels detached and distant from myself.

Yesterday I arrived to Slow Lori. Being with her is a big energy refill, a lovely, safe oasis when my everyday is stressed. Thoughts of the move being a constant buzz. 😵‍💫

Packing for this visit I tried to pack as little as possible and reflected on how much it does that I got a toothbrush and some sets of ear plugs that lives in Slow Lors house. There is also a blanket I know I can use for my dog when I bring her. Small things but they make a big impact on my sense of belonging to Slow Loris home and always being welcome 💝
A while ago she said that she liked the idea that I could just come by unplanned and have whats necessary to spend the night ✨

DAY 6
--sunday--

We woke up around 10am, after having gone to bed around 3am post party.

It was a slow day. We cleaned up and watched some TV snuggled together on the sofa. I didn't feel too fractured after the night before which was nice.

We dropped Greg's wife's other-husband home around 3pm, and just had a quiet evening. It was n9ce to just relax and hang out together in the same actual space.

Its been fairly cold and miserable most of the day.. actually, for a few days now, so I'm not seeing many foxes. The foxes that usually sunbake on the shed at the bottom of next door's garden are hiding somewhere warmer and more dry.

I did see a black and white cat contemplating how it might get into the tree in the yard to get to the British Magpies that hang out there, but it decided it had better things to do with its time.

DAY 5
--saturday--

My birthday party!

We woke up relatively early to start prepping. We moved the furniture in the bedroom around so we could all squirrel away in there and just chat and hang out.

I got some amazing presents, including a bunch of pins that were funny, some tshirts, a tea mug with bees on it to keep here (which was amazing, because it feels like a deeper level of acceptance into this family). Greg got me a few pairs of plugs (for stretched lobes) I've been looking at for a while now and I'm super excited about wearing them because they're so pretty!

People arrived around 12md, and we all had some drinks and took whatever bits and pieces people wanted to be taking, then we spent hours just chatting and hanging out together. It was comfortable and fun and felt really lovely.

About half way through a GIANT bouquet of rainbow coloured roses arrived for me from Greg and his wife, which are stunning.

Greg and I snuck off for a bit of a play, and we went to bed around 3am. It was a fantastic party.
