drives me up the wall
Come rain or shine, at dusk or dawn
Makes no odds at all

The sound of his incessant toil
Wakes me from my sleep
Reproaches me for days let spoil
With each careful sweep

Old fashioned tools seem his delight
Fast enough they prove
The ancient blade still glinting bright
keen edge arcing smooth

We all like grass his steady prey
Practised swings lay low
We choose not either hour nor day
Can hay delay the mow?

no more lawns to mow
sprinklers gone dry overnight
