Verizon faces phone unlocking requirements from its acquisition of 700MHz spectrum in 2008, and it's acquisition of prepaid provider TracFone in 2021. Requires when a customer buys a phone from Verizon it's locked to Verizon's network for 60 days, so that they can only use it with a Verizon SIM card. After 60 days, Verizon automatically unlocks the phone, allowing customer to use another carrier's network.

If you're having trouble with phones breaking, or you just want a good case for your phone, get a Spigen "tough armor" case. I've dropped my Pixel 3 XL like at least a 100 times in the past 5 years I've had it, and haven't broken the screen once. Maybe it is anecdotal and I've just gotten wildly lucky.
