Yesterday, on the holiday, I finally made progress on my photography portfolio after some procrastination. I managed to bridge some technical knowledge gaps and refine the core concept of what the site aims to deliver and achieve. I'm pleased with my deliberate yet serious approach, as I believe this will lead to a polished final result that's truly worth the effort.

I went to visit my usual framer, the wonderful Claire at the appropriately named "Framing Genius", and she seemed to be confident that a narrow wooden frame would in fact work for the gauzes. So she's going to make some, and I will mount some fresh gauze and re-do the heads of Akhenaten and Nefertiti, in the right place on those mounted gauzes...
Having fun experimenting with multi-material printing! Used clear filament embedded in opaque to see how light would move through it. Unfortunately, not as far as I hoped. On the flip side, I was afraid that the 3 sections might fall apart as soon as I removed it, but it all held together! Two unexpected results, but valuable lessons I can use going forward.

Ahoy! I've been busy calibrating my print settings and learning about filament flow and k-value. I'm excited to get to my art projects, but taking the time to learn these important skills now will pay off in the long run. In the meantime, anyone need a toy boat? 😆
