The marsh tit or glanskop in Dutch. Managed to get these nice sharp shots from the birding hide at Nationaal Park de Hoge Veluwe last Saturday. I'm very happy how these turned out.

It's s little bit backlit by the morning sun against a nice creamy background.Marsh tit (Poecile palustris) sideways on the bark of a tree. The image could almost have been in monochrome.

A few of the shots from the hide at today. Sitting in a hide is nice for some close shots with nice , but my preference is to hike around and see what I find. But it was a great day with a new buddy! More pics later

Die Sumpfmeise nur leicht unscharf. Hoffentlich ist sie nicht fest gefroren. Sie hält doch sonst nie still.

The Daily Morning Walk was fruitful!
We walk in the local swamp, it has good paths and lots of trees and ground cover, and truly an abundance of birds, which is impressive considering we are in the middle of a large city.

A marvellous Marsh Tit, photographed at Brandon Marsh towards the end of January. Though not as colourful as their relatives the Blue and Great Tits, these little birds are just as cute and are always a joy to see.

Photo of a Marsh Tit (Poecile palustris) perched on top of a wooden post to which a sign (the back of which we can see part of) is attached. Tits are part of a family of birds which in North America are known as Titmice or Chickadees. Like other Tits, the Marsh Tit is a small bird. The top half of the Tit’s head, its eyes, its short beak, and a small patch on the throat are black. The sides of the face are white, the chest is whitish and the rest of the underparts are a pale buff colour. The back, wings, and the relatively short tail are various shades of brown. The short legs are a dull pink colour and the feet grey. The body of this Marsh Tit is facing towards the right side of the picture and slightly towards us, but the head is turned to the left so that we can see the right side of it. The bird has the kernel or heart of a sunflower seed held in his or her beak.

From there we headed up to the tower hide. It’s a double sided hide, one of which opens into the tree canopy. We were lucky to see lots of the usual little birds coming in to snack on the feeding table.
