I was lucky to be born into a #matriarchal family. The women ran everything. They were the pillars of strength, the storytellers, the knowledge keepers, the healers, the mystics. When I first ran into the #patriarchal idea that men are somehow superior, I was baffled at how anyone could think that.
I'm grateful to all the women in my ancestry who blazed a trail for us today. May we continue to do so for all women. It's especially important now.

"'Your ancestors are always around,' Williston said, speaking of the #SacredPlaces along the rivers. Williston is entrusted with bringing the Chahta ancestors home."

"Williston said that all along the rivers, like the #KiamachiRiver in southeastern Oklahoma, there are sacred places, places that are the heart of the people, places where the council was built.

"Speaking on bringing the ancestors home at the Phillip Deer Roundhouse on Muscogee Creek land, Williston was joined by Native people from throughout the nation during the two-day weekend gathering. They shared the history of the struggle for #NativeAmericanRights, the hard-won victories of the 1970s, and the ongoing struggles to protect the water and rivers -- as the #racism, threats of #EminentDomain seizures, the violence of #ManCamps of the #OilAndGas industry, the desecration of #LithiumMining in burial places, and the manipulations of the United States government continue.
With gratitude to the Native women gathered here, Williston said he appreciates the strength of the women speaking and their leadership, for it is a #matriarchal culture.

"'It is important that the women take the lead,' he said. 'I hear the wisdom come from these ladies.' 'We should always listen to the women, our clan mothers and clan sisters.'"

"There are clues suggesting that White Gladis [a certain whale] may have become entangled in fishing gear — a common threat to orcas — either as an accident or during an illegal fishing attempt, López Fernandez said: Many boats use fishing lines at the stern, and this seems to be one of the motivating factors for orcas to approach and investigate the rear of the craft. Earlier this year, another killer whale in the area was spotted with a fishing line on its body, he said.

"Since White Gladis’ supposed traumatic event, two adult killer whales may have started teaching juveniles how to approach boats to disable their rudders — which seems to track with Kriz’s observation about the evolution of the behavior between his two encounters.

"'Orcas are a very #matriarchal society and all juveniles look up to these very important females in the pod; the juveniles are copying their behaviors because they believe that if these very important individuals do something, they have to do the same to ensure their own survival,' González said.

"Worryingly, the interactions seem to be on the rise: “From January to May, we’ve seen an increase compared to last year, but it’s too early to say if this will be maintained throughout the rest of the season,' López Fernandez said."

It's getting strange with the multiple goddesses (my world is #matriarchal), but the impact of the church on culture & life back then was undeniable. So players keep bumping up against abbesses, deacons, priors, & the influence the abbey has over local village politics. What's everybody else doing?
