I've always like #ModelTrains, but the problem, to me, is how big a layout actually needs to be before I find it interesting in the long term.

My dream has always been to realistically model a high speed passenger rail service.

An HO train (1:87 scale) running at a scale speed of 60 mph will travel 5280/87= 60.69 feet of track per minute. To model an N700A #Shinkansen at 180 mph would be triple that, over 182 feet per minute.

The track radius which allows that speed is 3000m, or 9843 feet.

Day 15/24 Today was just some minor finishing touches. I'm finished with this #diorama.

Thanks again to @jon for the photo that inspired this. It brought a lot of fun :-) And thanks for the fun comments & suggestions.

I'll keep on doing a "daily hobby thing" as I can use the motivation. Next up is a modern version of the little locomotive. As that'll be a combination of 3d design & "tinkering" I'll post less frequently.

My inlaws would like as a Christmas gift some printed figures for their g-scale model train setup. I'm trying to find some semi-modern generic STL people and coming up mostly blank, at least on MMF.

Anybody have any leads on this?

Everyone I'm finding has either a space suit or chainmail.

Here’s another video of that Lego train setup. This one at night with a headlamp on the front on the model train.

The train gets stalked by a “giant cat” in the second half of the video. Plus there is a derailment. And a struggle to get past some leaves on the line.
