My favourite instrumental album of all time.

Took a personal day today, so I’m just going to stay home, draw and paint, and enjoy not doing anything and not moving.

This album is in the same class as the Fripp & Eno record in that it was WAAAY ahead of its time, and very important in pushing music forward into new realms, and was the very first piece of electronic music ever released by a record company. It’s even part of the Library Of Congress’ National Recording Registry.

Call it what you want. Classical, electronic, or just best-shit crazy. Whatever it is, it is a completely singular work of art from a time when literally NOTHING sounded like it.

Morton Subotnick is pretty cool. His wife and sometimes collaborator Joan La Barbara is no slouch either. She explores the human voice, technology and composition to great effect. Some really cool percussion work on this one too.
