Lulz… #Volvo sent me a, "it's been 100 days: how do you like your #NewCar," #survey. If a human actually reads it, they're going to think "this guy hates this car." In actuality, I really like the car, even if I would never re-buy the 2025 model year's version of it (or, in our case, buy out the lease come term's end).

In answer to the "what do you think of Volvo" I gave a 4/10. The survey then asked "why did you give the score you did", to which I responded:

I'm basing my score solely on my EX30 and in a context of "would you buy THIS vehicle again". The car is a lot of fun to drive and is well suited for driving within about an hour's one-way distance from our house. However, the rated range of the vehicle — a big determiner of whether this was going to be a suitable vehicle for us — is laughably, borderline fraudulently "optimistic". All over Volvo's documentation, advertising, etc. it says "253 miles". In practice, its range is over 100mi less than that figure. Didn't overly notice the poor range-performance with around-town driving, especially after we got an L2 charger installed. However, based on the 127 mile, each way, drive to Pennsylvania for the holidays and the fact that we arrived with less than 20% charge having started with a 100% charge. Similarly, the charging speed is ridiculously-slow — never achieving more than 100kWh at non-shared 350kWh and 400kWh chargers. Even that 100kWh is only from about 15% charge-remaining to 50% charge-remaining. The charging speed drops to 70kWh from 50-80%, then below 60kWh from 80-95% and below max-L2 charging speeds from 95% upwards.

The car runs Android. The car was only delivered with one remote-entry and drive-activation fob. When I asked the dealership, "why," they explained that it was because the iPhone app can act as a remote-entry/drive-activation fob. However, my phone is Android based and its app doesn't afford the same capabilities that the iPhone app does. This means that, if I don't have the fob with me, I can neither do remote-entry (without the clumsy app) nor, and especially more aggravatingly, start my car without placing the smart-card onto the MagSafe charging slot. In turn, this means I can't just place my phone there and "go". Nor can I charge my phone until I place the car in gear, remove the SmartCard and THEN move my phone onto the charging-spot.

Also: with Android 16 having shipped, this year, it's beyond ridiculous that the EX-30 is running Android 12 — a, now, four year old release. It gives me SERIOUS concerns about whether and how easily someone might be able to hack my car. Given the fly-by-wire nature of the car — particularly braking and steering, such a hack could easily result in a horrendous accident.

Does anyone know a trick to getting a vehicle for cheap, ASAP? A family member got into a bad wreck, and now 3 people do not have a ride to work and could lose their home if we don't figure this out fast.

Good morning tooting friends. It was a warmer night last night, about 10c when I got up & today it is going to be a sun & cloud 27c day. That awful wind has gone & it’s lovely & still outside right now. I’m very glad I spent some time yesterday tying up a few plants to some garden stakes.
I didn’t sleep as well last night as I have been lately, I don’t know why but I was definitely restless. Maybe overtired as I was dozing off at 9.30pm & took myself off to bed which is a little early for me.
I was thinking I may go swimming again today, but I seem to have already got a touch of the sun from yesterday. Probably more due to the wind as it’s only my cheeks & back of the neck but I’m going to go for a walk this morning instead. I’ll be going down to my sisters this afternoon anyway to have a cuppa & say goodbye to the Perth rellies as they head home tomorrow morning.
Not a huge day, but a good one. I had a phone call early today from the person I bought the car off to see how I was getting on with it. She said if there was any issues to let her know which I thought was lovely. There are no issues, I’m managing it just fine 😊.

Good morning tooters. It was apparently 7c when I got up but the feels like was only 2c. We’re only heading to 19c today as well & it will be a little cloudy - this is probably the last hurrah before the weather starts warming properly, although I’ve said that before!
My friend I bought the car off dropped off the bill of sale for it yesterday, but apparently her daughter has to do something online before I can go to vic roads to do the rego changeover. I have no idea what, my eyes tend to glaze & I zone out when things like this start getting explained 😬. So my car still isn’t officially my car & they won’t be canceling their insurance for it until it is officially mine.
It’s pay day for me today too & I think it will be an expensive week 😏 as is always the way when you get a new car. I’m glad my freezer is full & have no other bills.

Good morning tooters. Lazy morning because I’m house sitting & can (any excuse will do lately). It was about 8c this morning when I got up & we’re heading to a pleasant 22c with maybe a little rain, although I do think we got more than enough yesterday. Everything is quite waterlogged outside.
I had a few plans yesterday, but as it goes with plans they mostly didn’t happen. I was supposed to have dinner with family at my daughters yesterday evening to help celebrate the birthday for Miss 8, but started having some tummy & back issues again & came home instead & had a quiet evening & no dinner. This morning though I am going to finally walk to the greengrocers for a little fresh fruit & veg, craving bananas. This afternoon I have a remedial massage booked which I’m hoping will tune me up & get me over the last of my issues 🤞🏼. Late this afternoon my friend who I bought the car off is dropping off the bill of sale so that I can go to Vic Roads to do the rego changeover & pay the stamp duty. Then off to fight for a fair deal at my insurance company - but that’s all for tomorrow.

Good morning tooters. Up & at ‘em just before 6am & it was a chilly 5c & I have the heater on. It’s a beautiful day outside although rain is forecast later. We are supposed to get to 24c which rain or not, will be quite nice.
I slept like a log last night. The bed in this house, honestly I could pick it up & take it home, it is soooo comfortable. I need a new mattress at home, so I am going to take note of the one on this bed. Heading up home today to water the garden & grab something I forgot, but also to change my earrings as the amber in one of the pair I’m wearing has fallen out - I have it, but need superglue or something 🤷🏼‍♀️, I’ll worry about that another day.
Spoke to my younger brother last night, he’s on light work duties for week due to a sprained wrist & is bored, I must be he boredom fixer 😁.
Guess what I’m going to pick up today - my car 🚙. It’s all sorted just need to go into Vic Roads on Monday & do the changeover stuff. Very excited. I’ll post a picture later.

Good morning tooting friends. It’s a warm overcast day, lots of rain clouds around, nothing falling here so far but 🤞🏼some does eventually today. It was about 14-15c when I got up pre dawn & is only 17c, heading to a pleasant 24c.
While I waited for the kettle to boil this morning I chopped up a little stale bread, damped it down & took it outside for the birds & as I stood next to my little Dogwood I could smell its flowers, it only has 4 😃, so I can only imagine how it will smell when it’s bigger & has a lot of them.
Felt a little squirrelly when I got up which I don’t understand why. I’ve eaten less than usual this last week or so & have kept what I have eaten very simple. I was playing in the potting mix yesterday though soooooooo 😒. I really need to start wearing gardening gloves - I just hate the damned things. I now have full sympathy for the little cat of @dropbear - unpleasant, but this too will pass.
I have also heard from the friend who I’m buying the car off. She has the day off work & my car is going in for its final fix, which isn’t really a fix, it’s an adjustment from when her daughter put cameras in that affected something else. I’m picking her up later & we’ll spend a couple of hours together. I will have my car soon. All that’s been done to this car, I feel like I’m almost getting a new one. New tyres, new windscreen. Front & rear cameras.
