#Narrators

I've noticed that, in more recent documentaries, there seems to be a tendency toward not only informality and a horrible lack of RP in both the narrators and the audiodescribers (most of these shows are from the BBC), but toward adding the experience of the cameramen, narrators, etc. I don't mean at the end, where they explain how they filmed a particular sequence, but throughout an entire documentary. Sometimes, it makes sense and is interesting. But sometimes, it's distracting, especially when I just want to be immersed in the world of nature. Fortunately, I found an older series, called Walking with Beasts, that I hadn't watched yet. In the version that I have from Audiovault, both the narrator and the describer speak in a beautiful form of RP. It is such a relief to hear such wonderful speech. If anyone can recommend a narrator or audio describer whom I would appreciate, either from the past or the present, I would sincerely appreciate it. Sadly, the few good describers I found don't ever say their names, so I have no idea who they are.

new #audiobook rule for Audible--you should be able to filter out "Virtual Voice" in search...there's over 50,000 books with that...and 95% of them are AI-Generated books... #GarbageInGarbageOut #Audiobooks #Narrators

Delighted and grateful I got to narrate this wonderfully written book. What a lovely review! (Note that some portions are NSFW.) bit.ly/41pKtzM #narrators #Audiobooks #VoiceOver #LGBTQ #FilmNoir

Out of curiosity, do I have any #audiobook #narrators followers? With the release of 9 novellas this month & next, I'm pondering audiobook editions for two or three of them.

I spread the word as much as possible it’s a great way to support #libraries and find #authors #books & #narrators you like before you buy em 😊

Looks like #findaway voices is getting on the "digital voice narration" train. I don't want to hear a machine read, thank you very much #writingcommunity #writing #indieauthor #narrators

Good morning. I'm watching one of my favorite youTubers, Corpse Husband, read some pretty interesting horror stories. My favorite types of stories aren't the ghost ones because I personally don't find spirits to be scary. I myself have had encounters. No, the stories that make me feel scared are the EMT/fire/cops/medical stories because they're real and hearing someone's account of something that happened in front of them or seeing the aftermath just does it. If anyone has YouTube or audio suggestions of people who read this, boost for reach and recommend please.

@TheManyVoices I can’t listen to an audiobook if the narrator’s voice isn’t right. Some of my favourite #VoiceActors #audiobook #narrators are Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Sheen, Humphrey Bower, Joe Morton and Toni Morrison.
Today I finished listening to Autumn by Ali Smith, narrated by Melody Grove, which I quite enjoyed.

is not an easy skill. Microphones are merciless at picking up unwanted sounds: background & mouth noises, leafblowers down the street, heavy breaths, etc.

You have to maintain a slow, steady pace, with enough inflection & character voices to keep it interesting.

takes longer than recording. Experienced can take many hours to record & edit an .

There are good reasons why are paid well for their work.

I just got an email from BookBrush this morning, and it contained a survey about interest in creating AI narrated #audiobooks with them if I would paid a one-time fee of $999 USD to join that service. Of course my first thought was what about the #narrators? What about quality? And a number of other things. I did some research and I’m even more concerned, and of course, the email was sparse in details. While it’s tempting as a #SelfPublished author, I still care about the people it effects. The narrators and the authors. Am I being too paranoid about this or is the appropriate reaction? Who wants to discuss? #WritersofMastodon #SelfPublishing
