I released an ebook of my 1st book recently (unfortunately can’t print it just yet) and it’s 20% off all of June for Pride Month!

ko-fi.com/lukeorion/link/1STBO

It’s a storybook, illustrated and handwritten by yours truly. The story is based on my experience with childhood trauma and homelessness, from the perspective of a cat.

I’d really appreciate any support towards this 🫶 thank you!

This idea came to me because I’ve seen the struggles, as well as experienced some, trying to get shorter length books noticed. There is a place for them in the #selfpublished #author ecosystem. This idea would provide help from like minded people that have a vested interest in helping you succeed. Thoughts? #writingcommunity #amwriting #writinglife #authors

I’ve been thinking about the #selfpublished #author ecosystem recently, specifically from a new or first time author. Beyond writing the book, of which they are very proud of. They also take on every other aspect either themselves or hiring someone, from editing, to graphic design, to promotion, to social media, to web design, to more. Here’s where my idea comes in, specifically for friends and word of mouth acquaintances. /thread because it’s getting long #writingcommunity

“While We’re Waiting” isn’t just a title—it’s how Sean prepared.
After no replies came in from submissions to podcasts or interviewers, Sean asked his son Timothy—and now daughter-in-law Cassie—to step in and help him get ready.

Indie authors - who are your favorites and why do you love supporting them?

2025-06-01

I quite enjoy doing pixel art animations, so here I join two loves, the pixels and my book, A Gun Is the Thing with Feathers, which the first episode came out at the end of last month.

It is a pre-solarpunk, beautiful dystopia with an Ace female lead and plenty more LGBTQIA+ POC peeps throughout.

It is free digitally and available in handmade chapbooks, zine style, via my Ko-fi. Links in bio. It is not on A-zon cause fuck them.

A friend recently told me, “it’s nearly impossible to get big and sell your book if you’re not on all platforms of social media”. Maybe she’s right, but there isn’t enough money in the world, to convince me to go back to #meta. #selfpublished #socialmedia #girardjourney

Some of his later oeuvres were like this. Immense bound, self-published books with alternating newspaper clippings from the US press of the time, with typewritten opinion essays and commentary mixed in. Kind of like blogging before blogging existed. I don't know who was reading them but mixed in were his letters to Kennedy era political figures so I don't think he was shy about it.
