Lovely weather today so went for a #wander along the #GlamorganHeritageCoast from #NashPoint to #CwmNash and back. Great views, a hunting #Kestrel and some noisy #Gulls thinking about making an early claim for this years nesting spot.

Traeth Mawr:

Looking along a long sandy beach from a high vantage point. The beach curves around to the right disappearing behind the high cliffs. In the distance the buildings of Southerndown, and further on, Porthcawl, can be seen across a calm, dark grey sea. Above, thick clouds are building in an otherwise blue skyMonknash Beach:

Looking along a long beach of golden sand and mussel covered rocks. In the middle distance, the beach curves around to the right disappearing behind a high rocky promontory. A small raptor hovers against a clear blue sky. Viewed from below, the bird has a white belly, with a brown barred tail and speckled brown wings, chest and throat. It's dark eyes and beak are pointing down towards the ground and its bright yellow talons tucked close to it's bodyHerring Gulls:

A pair of gulls, bright white apart from their pale grey wings and bright yellow beaks, stand on a narrow ledge. The ledge is half way up a sheer sea cliff made of layers of brown stone and mud, punctuated by sparse patches of yellow lichen and green vegetation

Been taking advantage of the great weather to visit some of my favourite local spots. Yesterday was a walk down #CwmNash and along the beach to #NashPoint, before returning via the cliff top. Today was a #wander through #Kenfig #NatureReserve to #SkerBeach and back around #KenfigPool

Monknash Beach looking towards Cwm Nash:

Looking along a (almost) deserted beach of smooth golden sand. A strip of wet sand gives broken reflections of the high sandstone cliffs backing the beach. Small waves break on a rocky outcrop in the distance. A single line of footsteps meanders into the distanceLooking along Monknash beach towards Nash Point:

Looking down from high cliffs onto an almost deserted beach. A rocky pavement gives way to smooth golden sand with small waves gently breaking onto it. In the distance the cliff faces can be seen as they arc around the bay, shining yellow in the sunlight.A path through the wooded shore of Kenfig Pool:

A well used path passes between bushes and trees that form a tunnel above. In the distance the path emerges into the bright sunlight.Looking over Sker Beach to Sker Point:

Looking over a bank of pebbles and a strip of wet golden sand to a steel blue sea. In the distance a finger of dark rocks protrudes into water. Between the rocks and the beach a number of surfers are waiting for the right wave to break.

Took a short walk this morning from #NashPoint to #ColHuwPoint (aka ##LlantwitMajor #Beach). It's a great section of the #WalesCoastalPath with a #Lighthouse #WW2 #PillBox(es), the famous #StDonatsCastle and, of course, some great views.

Looking up to the dome at the top of a circular, white lighthouse. A weather vane in the shape of an arrow sits atop a riveted metal dome. Below this the Light Room is glazed with diamond shaped panes. Behind the lighthouse wispy white clouds pass through a deep blue skyLooking at the Lighthouse complex at Nash point. The main lighthouse is to the right of the photo, To the left of this are a number of single storey buildings , one of which supports the large fog horn. Finally to the far left is a circular tower topped with a flat roof and a guard rail. All the buildings are painted bright white. To the far left a sheer Limestone and Mudstone cliff drops to a blue grey sea.The foreground is dense green vegetation and the sky is pale blue and cloudlessLooking West along the coastline. A blue grey sea laps at a rocky foreshore. In the foreground a sheer cliff with a large cave forms a small promontary, behind which, in the distance, the castellated wall and slipway of St Donat's castle peaks. Further along the land rises to form another steep cliffA low grey brick hexagonal building topped with a concrete roof sits above a beach of sand and rocks. There is a low square entrance to one side and a small square opening in each of the sides

Looking over green fields, bisected by the access road to a car park which can be seen to the right of the photo. In the middle distance, two lighthouses and a fog-horn can be seen, all painted bright white. The left most lighthouse is tall and tapering with a domed top containing the light. The right hand lighthouse is shorter and squat, with a flat roof enclosed by an iron fence. No light can be seen. In between the the two lighthouses is a small 1 storey building with a large black air horn on it's roof. In the far distance the coast of Somerset can be seen across the Bristol Chanel and shrouded in a slight haze. A large cargo ship sits just off the English coast. The sky is a light blue with thick fluffy white clouds.Looking East along the coast. The visible beach is a cracked, grey limestone pavement with very large, irregular, rough stone blocks spread across it. The beach is backed to the left, by tall, near vertical cliffs of limestone and mudstone . To the right, a grey sea can be seen and beyond that the coastline of Somerset rises. The sky is a deep blue with high white thin clouds.A fossil of a starfish in a large grey limestone block. The five arms can clearly be seen.A Cormorant leads a procession of Herring Gulls along the waters edge.

The cormorant is oily black with its wings slightly spread. Behind it, six herring gulls follow, one also has its wings slightly spread. They are walking across golden sand at the edge of a grey, choppy Bristol Chanel. In the distance a large buoy can be seen and further away, the rocky Somerset Coastline

Walked a short section of the #WalesCoastalPath again today, along the cliffs from #NashPoint to #Monknash and back along the #Beach...stunning #Sky

A wide angle shot of a beach. Dark wet sand leads away from the camera to a pebble bank and then to high sheer limestone cliffs. Large rockfalls can be seen along the length of the cliffs. Above the cliffs the sky is a deep blue, marbled with wispy white clouds
