#Oxo garlic press felt like an all-steel design in my hand but they used plastic for the hinge where all of the force caused it to snap today as I was pressing some garlic. Now I have an excuse to buy a superior tool.

This is the #OXO Good Grips #mandoline pusher device I mentioned yesterday. The black ABS reinforcement that you can see the edge of triples the thickness of the pusher plate, and is much tougher than the polystyrene I'm fairly sure the plate is actually made of. That plate should NEVER EVER have been an unreinforced, un-buttressed plastic part that thin. The design is acceptable *if the plate were made from food-grade stainless steel*. Iffy, but probably OK, if it were brass. Dubious in Zamac or another zinc die-casting alloy, or in aluminum. But absolutely not acceptable in plastic. This should never have passed #engineering review. It was GOING to break. The only question was when.
Have I mentioned lately how much I love my basic little Oxo Mandoline slicer?
Yes.
I love it.
And I still have all of the flesh on my fingers!!!
In fact, I'm going downstairs to use it right now!
After wiping my main system, which is not so old and has an nvme drive, during instllation hajime came to a standstill while attempting to execute sgdisk. I went to sleep and dreamt my solution should be in line 621?! Now see if it works...

Hajime is finished! I consider it in production from now on.
If you have a spare machine, check it out. A quick offline installation (modules 1-3) will be ready within a couple of minutes.

Here my quick build of a bash toml parser based on kwmiebach's (https://github.com/kwmiebach) version on github. Thanks kwmiebach!

The order of arguments (file, section key) is irrelevant. Data is aggregated if no key or section is given.
My idea is to integrate it with my paasword manager passr. Then my password files can be toml format.
Have a nice weekend!
New video about my script validation framework. The two scripts calc-sum and check-sum are based on the default sha3-512sum hash function. I use both functions to generate soll-values and compare them with the ist-value of a specific script on time of execution. Enjoy the video!
Hurray! I am done with the improvement work on passr!
Passr now automatically injects a creation time when making a new entry in the password store. It also keeps track of the number of edits and time last changed via a version number.
Another major new feature is the ability to enter and extract customized key value pairs for other than the default fields. For example an email address or really any custom field.
At least for the time being I will keep the entries format. Which is: 'key: value'. Maybe change to json would be nice, but for now I see no real benefit only more complexity.
I hope that I will be able to make a video on passr soon.

Working on a improved idea regarding creation and editing password files in my beloved tool passr.
Already build in a number-of-edits-counter and laat-edit time.
Also still in doubt to migrate to toml format for the gpg file content. Any ideas?
Lost my passr password-store today.
For an inexplicable reason I found it totally wiped out.
Therefore today I am glad my daily backup strategy - using syncr - actually works!

Plans had changed; no video today. Instead I removed fzf-cpbd from my repo and wrote fzf-clst for managing a clipboard list. I am pretty happy with the workings right now.

I developed the cd-functions, in order to navigate easily through directories from within the commandline.
In this video I show the first and simplest cd-function which is 'cd-up' (C-k).

Dirstack is a shell script that creates a list of unique directories from the history file in chronological order.
The cd-functions, which I have developed to navigate easily through directories from within the commandline, depend heavily upon dirstack.
In this video I analyze how the dirstack variable is been build.
