The CEO Mark Carew invented the V-Slot extrusion in 2013. We use them on the Bear because the V shape offered an easy alignment during the assembly and more flexibility for the printed parts (no support needed).

Big plotter so much closer to operation after this weekend! Even with all that shelving I'll run out of room for pens. I can't wait to be up and running.
Step 1 is done. It took 32 hours of carving, 37 if you count mistakes. Next up I need to sand it to get rid of the fuzzy fibers leftover from carving, then stain it and then figure out what I want to do to protect it. #cnc #lotr #openbuilds

@DistroJunkie yeah I figured that out after I made that comment when I saw your earlier posts about an old ANet printer. I started out in 2012 with a laser cut wood Printrbot Plus. Fun times! I’ve been threatening (idly) to design my own 3D printer, too. Probably from aluminum extrusions and with an Ultimaker-ish gantry (I like the corexy gantry, too). At one point I even bought some fishline and some guitar tuning pegs. They’re collecting dust. But I did build an #OpenBuilds Ox CNC router...
