#30DayMapChallenge Day 6: Rasters
My thoughts are with the victims of the devastating #ValenciaFlood.
I've created a map showing flow accumulation of 500 mm uniform rainfall near Valencia using #QGIS and the #PCRaster Tools plugin. #OpenData: SRTM90 via the #OpenTopography DEM downloader plugin and #OpenStreetMap via the QuickOSM plugin. :openstreetmaps: :qgis:
Finally had some time to return to my pet project, and properly port my helicopter physics and aerodynamics from Long Line Helicopter'ine.
With the controller in place I decided to take the Terrain3D addon for #Godot by Tokisan Games for another spin.

It's amazing that I was flying about a 16,000km2 piece of terrain in less than 15 mins. The terrain heightmap is #lidar data from #OpenTopography of the area north of Vancouver Canada.
Check out Tokisan Game's addon here:

Great to see #ArcticDEM being available via #OpenTopography as well. ArcticDEM was a total game changer when it was first made available for #Iceland replacing a old patchwork of DEMs with some parts based on digitized contour lines from the 1950s. Today it’s the default surface layer for all of our avalanche and flood modeling. We owe Polar Geospatial Center lots of 🍺
Howdy #mapstodon !
I'm hoping someone can take the time to help a #GIS #noob with a project. I'm working in the #Unity3D game engine to create game terrain from real world data.
So far it has been successful, but it is a painstaking process done completely by hand.
My trouble has to do with the projection of #OpenTopography data, USGS30m #Rasters to be precise.
I've attached two images to illustrate my problem...
