Some months ago I decided that migrating my systems from Microsoft to a Linux OS is the next step in my quest to loosen techno-feudalism's grip on my life. Thought I'd start small with my ancient Netbook so as not to be without (read: screw up) my desktop for too long...

So, after a morning down the Linux rabbit hole, I'm facing an install (correct term?) of a tiny dispo (learning new words) that'll run on my 32-bit, 1.00 GB system. I figure, if I can make that work, migrating my newer desktop system will be a cinch.

Anyone built the fair mouse @info_1 offers as a kit and had it work? Mine processes clicks left and right, sort of anyway. But moving the mouse makes the pointer "wiggle a bit" and that's about it, there's no actual "movement" as in a certain direction. Now I *did* have a lot of problems soldering the USB wires to the PCB but I am pretty sure I got that cleaned up properly. Only "short" I measured was between ground and shielding and APPARENTLY that's standard? Maybe not? Anything else I could have messed up? I did notice a small tab on the bottom of the sensor but the instructions didn't talk about it. Was I supposed to remove that? Was that some kind of "lens protector" that makes it so the sensor is not doing its job now? I FINALLY DID IT!!! I shut off the SNAP WINDOWS on 'windows 10'. Not sure why I haven't been able to do it before this... This has been years coming!

Pretty sure everyone already knew how to do this. I feel a weight lifted from my computer screen. No more 'active-onboard-harrassment'.

Now, if only I could figure out how to turn off the auto-comment thing in Vi on Git-Bash. It's the last 'feature' that still lingers...
