At the @transitous Hack Weekend last week at @wikimediaDE's WikiBär we looked at integrating #NeTEx schedule data and SIRI-FM/SX elevator status data into #Transitous, among many other things: https://volkerkrause.eu/2026/01/17/transitous-hack-weekend-january-2026.html

For anyone interested in the podcast series on #transport and #opensource, I’ve set up a #peertube channel where I share the videos that serve as sources for the podcast episodes.

Or watch the videos here : https://videos.projets-libres.org/c/transports/videos
This also helps make videos that are only available on YouTube accessible on the #fediverse!
Cinq jours avant… toujours pas de trace des données ouvertes #opendata #GTFS de #Transdev ou de la #RégionPACA pour la ligne Marseille-Nice.
Some of my notes on #OSM indoor navigation, #Transitous and #OpenTransport from last week's #FOSSGIS2025: https://volkerkrause.eu/2025/04/05/osm-fossgis-conference-2025.html
We're approaching the end of the #Railways and #OpenTransport devroom at #FOSDEM. Now in the stage is Mikolai from the #transportr app. Next up: Nils talking about heritage railways and a call to the software community.
Make sure to be there a few minutes earlier, the room is still fully crowded!
Great start into the day! The #Railways and #OpenTransport devroom was already full before the programme started. We kick off the devroom with a talk about the open standards and open data in the transportation sector.
The upcoming talks will have a closer look at passenger simulation and long- and short-term planning before we go into the daily operations from different perspectives, especially the community.
That concludes all students that wrote a thesis with me this semester, focused on #opendata and #opentransport 😅. Very proud of all of them, they did great work 👏.
What are important requirements for software tools (like a domain-specific language) that work with #opentransport #opendata? @nakami analysis real-life data offers at the German NAP Mobilithek in his master thesis: https://oss.cs.fau.de/2023/08/02/final-thesis-requirements-for-an-open-mobility-data-processing-language/
Using a bike with public transport can make trips shorter or reach more destinations. Daniel Langbein evaluated if #OpenTransport data can be used for an #opensource multimodal routing app. He also built a great prototype: https://biketripplanner.de/! (Read https://oss.cs.fau.de/2023/08/01/final-thesis-evaluation-of-open-data-using-the-example-of-a-public-transport-navigation-website/)
GTFS formatted files are an important source of #OpenData for #OpenTransport. In his master thesis with us, Johannes Schilling designed & implemented an extension to our data pipeline modeling language Jayvee that enables users to work with GTFS sources :) https://oss.cs.fau.de/2023/07/31/final-thesis-processing-open-transport-data-design-and-implementation-of-an-extension-for-a-data-pipeline-modeling-language/
Soon for everyone: you'll only get services after you have consented to digital theft of all your personal data #OpenBanking #OpenFinance #OpenTransport #PNR
My impressions from #FOSDEM: https://volkerkrause.eu/2023/02/11/fosdem-2023-recap.html
Invaluable for inter-community collaboration, lots of exciting things happening between #KDE and #OpenTransport / #UnifiedPush / #Yocto on #RISCV
Interested in #opendata / #OpenTransport or #DataScience? We are hosting a public kickoff meeting for our project, creating a domain specific language to model data pipelines. Our goal, together with mFund by @bmdv, is to make access to mobility data easier. https://oss.cs.fau.de/2023/01/24/invitation-to-the-jvalue-pml-kick-off-meeting/
@jwildeboer I'll be following the #opentransport devroom on Saturday but won't be able to attend on Sunday
The proposal for standardized data rooms for mobility is being discussed with many stakeholder groups in Switzerland and internationally, and evaluated openly, dynamically, with a strong focus on continuous quality improvement, and interoperability. Engendering trust through transparency, fairness and efficiency in particular is what we as a community are asked to respond to today. So, that was a rush! Old
SNCB API we scraped from went down. NMBS was so kind to reactivate it... But only for 2 weeks.
@BertMarcelis@twitter.com and an awesome #iRail community just redeployed a new implementation of the entire API so that everything is working again just fine!
