I was testing my disassembler with the #Amstrad #CPC or #PCW CP/M version of the Protext word processor and realised that there was a message that I'd never seen.
Turns out it's a "Thanks easter egg"
Here's how to trigger it.
1. Get the V2.23 version of Protext for CP/M
2. Start Protext
3. Enter "Key A,^192" at the Protext "a>" prompt
4. Hit Esc to go into edit mode.
5. Press Control, the number zero and A (aka Ctrl-0 A)
6. You now see "Many thanks to David Foster for all his help." at the top of the screen.

Diesmal gibts ne Prototyp-Hardware zum mal bissl antesten, wie das Bedienfeeling in der Realität so ist.
Implementiert ist es in der Software und vom Labor weiß man natürlich, dass es grundsätzlich geht. 👍🏼
Aber das alles ersetzt halt die Realität nicht gänzlich für einen richtigen Eindruck 🤷🏼

Soldered up a serial and parallel interface for #amstrad #pcw - have put the chips in yet but smoke test plugging it in to the machine seems fine and booted to cpm.

Seems that my vertical defection died after the UPC1379C chip gave up the ghost.
Lets hope the new one keeps running and the chip was the primary failure point 😬 #retrocomputing #cpm
I feel like a madman -- my #z80 assembler, #v80, assembles itself! This is it doing so on an #Amstrad #PCW emulator, a #z80 CP/M machine from 1985. It's not optimised for speed on original hardware -- over 50% of the runtime will be just echoing text (thanks, CP/M) and I'm surprised by the amount of heap data needed in the end, but we are talking 335 KB of source code (8KB binary), and I can look into that
