@tinker I do point these things out to folks from the #USA as well as tools to calculate their actual net payout (i.e. https://nettolohn.de for #Germany) as well as the fact that most things here are #mandatory, not "#perks" like #AffordableHealthcare, #PTO / #PaidVacationLeave, #PaidSickLeave, #PensionFunds, etc. and that these are 100% #transferable across employers and not tied to a specific employment. (I.e. your remaining PTO does transfer!)

OFC employers may offer benefits on top of that like a company car they can use as an individual (tho they'd have to pay tax on that -> #NotTaxAdvice / #NotFinancialAdvice!), or subsidized #PublicTransport tickets or just terms that are better than the legally mandated minimums.

Granted, #CostOfLiving in the #USA have gone so absurdly high and #wages have stagnated so hard that >50% of the people there literally can't afford to survive there!

This is a very blatant #clickbait and common #misconception:

Salaries ain't worse but what people call "#perks" in the #USA is basically #mandatory in the #EU.

Simple things like:

paid sick leave
paid vacation leave
paid parental (!!!) (not just maternal) leave
healthcare insurance
pension / retirement plan
...
In the #US, gross salaries are only higher because it's WAY MORE EXPENSIVE to get the same "perks", because #ForProfitHealthcare exists and noone gets paid vacay per law, so everyone has to cut that.

#Solidarity-based systems make things way cheaper, and people won't demand 6-digit salaries when they have to spend like 10% of their salary just to downpay a #car in a #CarCentric #suburban shithole but have excellent #PublicTransport at affordable rates right at their doorstep!
