I had a blast at #programmable this week. I'm exhausted but really pleased with how my talk was received. It is a more challenging, darker talk than I usually do, but important because it is emblematic of what is happening right now. Here are some random pics of the week!

Does any body know of any way to program this robot with #platformio ? This is an old programmable toy from 2009? 2013? By #Roboni #Robonii I can find the Windows (modified) version of the Arduino IDE, it has a #ATXMEGA processor but I'm not sure which one. I do have an old windows machine setup to use it, but ideally I would like to use my linux machines.

Robonii Robot from maybe 2009 or 2013, a programmable via Arduino IDE toy robot. Which may have played "soccer", or keep away. It had a controller, but the interesting part is it's ability to be programmed.

installed a #honeywell #programmable wall switch last week. i'll see how well it was #engineered sunday evening if the #porch #light comes on at the correct #dst #time.

Here is another picture together with the #LEGO #Technic #Control #Center which has #arrived in the meantime. I only had to clean the #battery #contacts. Otherwise, it was in perfect condition. It should also be one of the biggest LEGO parts.

Instead of C(LR14) I used #rechargeable AA(LR6) #batteries, which ideally have the same length. I just had to make #holders for them, which I also made out of LEGO. lol

It was the first #programmable LEGO set!

I bought the #original "LEGO #Technic #Control #Center " used from the #ebay. Mine broke at the time.

#Canada goes into madness. Because car makers install electronic locks every kid can open a Canadian government member wants to ban devices like the #flipper, but that means every freely #programmable #computer. Yes this would be a ban of #unlocked #phones, laptops where you can load anything you want and write programs yourself etc. horrible.

I have this programmable mechanical mini keyboard. The name that kinda works for finding them is Sayo (“sayo keyboard”, “sayo device”, etc.). Mine has 16 keys and 4 layers that you can switch to or hold as a Shift. TIL that I only need a browser with WebHID support (https://caniuse.com/?search=webhid) and can even config it on Linux. Very cool!

You can change buttons on the mouse itself, it doesn't even have a program for that. But it seems you can only choose from a limited list of options (copy, paste, print screen, Win button, F5, volume up/down, stuff like that), no custom shortcuts. Also not sure if you can switch between Bluetooth and dongle on the fly, or if it would forget the pairing. Tempted to get it just to mess around, not an expensive one.

I'm #impressed by what it accomplishes; it is quite the #feat, and not totally #obvious at first glance.

But it means that little control module is really quite #complicated, and is a dense little #blob of high-power circuitry. It would be expensive enough just for that.

But it's much, much worse.

Because the #control #module is #programmable.
