I went to one of Sen Merkley's town halls, and more than what was said (though some good things were discussed), the most amazing thing to me was that 2-4 people in each 80 person seating block were wearing respirators (high quality masks).

That is a TON of folks for where I live. I cried happy tears. It wasn't the Senator or most of the staff (yet?), but it was still beautiful.

The 2025 theme, “Stand UPPP for Infection Prevention — Unite, Prevent, Protect, Prevail,” calls on everyone — healthcare teams, patients, families and communities — to play a part.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀
- Hospital‑acquired infections remain a major global threat: in many places 7–15 in every 100 patients get a healthcare‑associated infection during a hospital stay.
- Proper infection prevention can prevent around 70% of infections through simple, cost‑effective practices.
- Preventing infections protects vulnerable people (children, elderly, immunocompromised) and helps healthcare systems work better.

𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲
- 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝘆𝗴𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗲: wash with soap and water or use alcohol hand rub frequently.

- IIPW is observed the third week of October — in 2025 it runs 19–25 Oct.
- APIC leads annual campaigns and themes to educate professionals and the public.
- The week highlights the crucial role of infection preventionists who help cut hospital‑associated infections significantly.

I try to stay focused on eliminating misinformation about many things, however it really troubles me when I see people diminishing the impacts of #COVID19. This specific revelation was about hip surgeries - which is necessary surgery for so, so many. Without it they can lose their ability to work, exercise to stay healthy, and may even develop dependance of painkillers just to keep going.

Though, All surgeries are lacking behind because of lack of care. Lack of doctors and nurses. And yet...they wont protect themselves or their patients.
It is extremely conserning.

When the maskless doctor came into the exam room he said, “You’re vaccinated.
