"In Concert, November 1975" by #RichardThompson and #LindaThompson.
A killer live album from the era of their best albums. Sound quality is great, and I love the rough folk rock sound. There's some tasty country rock covers as well like #HankWilliams song "Why Don't You Love Me".
Musical Interlude: Heard this twice recently, once shuffling on my MP3 player, again on the radio, so it seems like fate. Here's a great cover of a Richard Thompson song.

"Ship To Shore" #RichardThompson. His latest album, I think, from 2024. Just love the music starting from the 1st song "Freeze", followed by darker "Fear Never Leaves You". Usually RT albums are a bit growers but this one hit the spot immediately. My only complaint is that lyrics are printed on a folded impractical poster sheet.
"Sweet Talker" by #RichardThompson. A soundtrack album. There's a proper catchy RT start with "Put Your Trust In Me" but then it drifts into instrumental zone and gets a bit dull. Out of 11 tracks, there's only a couple of proper songs. Ends with a ballad.
Musical Interlude: Recently I caught a commentary that while the person felt that communism stifled innovation, they also felt that runaway capitalism, with most money in the hands of a small group of oligarchs, was just as bad. I don't know enough to judge their viewpoint, but it did bring to mind this brutal song that reminds us of life under oligarchy.

"Still" by #RichardThompson.
Produced by the #Wilco guy, so sounds occasionally a bit like #countryrock in places, but mostly #folkrock. Good album alright, steady going, and great jamming here and there. The long ending "Guitar Heroes" is a standout celebrating some of his influences.
My copy has also a bonus EP "Variations" (produced by himself). This time there's no acoustic/electric split, instead some of the songs on the EP rock even more heavily and louder.

"You? Me? Us?" by #RichardThompson from 1996.
This has two CDs to emphasize electric/acoustic split (at 74 mins all 19 songs would have still fitted on a single disc). Two songs get both electric/acoustic treatment.
Overall a pretty average RT album, but superb moments here and there, like "Put It There Pal" where he gets into that great 70s folk-rock soloing. The acoustic side also has its moments w/some creepy lyrics.
Good.

Maria McKee, Maria McKee, 1989 on Geffen
This was the debut solo album from the lead singer of Lone Justice. She’s joined here by Richard Thompson and Marc Ribot on guitar and Steve Wickham on fiddle.
She’d go on to record six more solo records and some live recordings – but I don’t think any of them did very well in the US – she had more success in Europe.
My copy—via Electric Fetus in Minneapolis MN—is a 1989 Specialty Records pressing, with original inner liner.

Musical Interlude: Richard Thompson's album "you? me? us?" was an interesting experiment; two discs, one fully electric, one stripped-down acoustic, featuring some of the same songs. I would have preferred the exact same playlist, electric and acoustic, to compare and contrast, but one can't have everything. This track from the Electric disc, of a man confronting his sweetie's mixed signals, is a bit of fun.
"Am I Wasting My Love on You?" performed by Richard Thompson.
