A late night wind down as we head into Friday.

Last week, I posted the first Fripp & Eno album, tonight we’re doing the second.

After this, it would be another 29 years before they’d put another record out together.

For me, THIS one is all about “An Index Of Metals”; a near 30 minute blissfully distorted drone mindfuck.

This was Fripp’s first project after King Crimson broke up (the first time), and of the two records, I think I lean a little bit more towards this one.

Fripp’s guitar playing is, and will always be, otherworldly.

Two masters making phenomenal art.

A change of pace from the awkward silence of my previous post.

People hated this album when it came out.
It is the first recording that Robert Fripp and Brian Eno made together, and is an early example of Eno’s “ambient” recordings.

It is a very different record than Eno’s Here Come The Warm Jets, which came out the same year.

Two long pieces of Robert Fripp beasting on the guitar; “Frippertronicing” over Eno’s delayed tape machine loops.

Eno’s management hated it.
Fripp’s bandmates in King Crimson hated it.
Most people hated it.

But David Bowie liked it a lot. As did Iggy Pop, as did Robert Christgau, who, famously, hated a lot of things.

It has since been reassessed as the masterwork it is.

It was light years ahead of its time, and it still sounds great.

Zu den bekanntesten Songs zählen "You Burn Me Up I’m a Cigarette" und "Here Comes the Flood". Gastmusiker wie Peter Gabriel, Daryl Hall, Peter Hammill und Phil Collins wirkten mit. Teile des Albums mussten wegen Vorgaben der Plattenfirmen neu besetzt werden.
