Hello, wonderful people of the Fediverse, I have a small, but important request.
I need sensitivity readers for specific sections of my novel. One of my side characters is mid-transition, and I want to ensure I'm handling their storyline appropriately.
I don't think they appear in more than perhaps 4-5 pages of the story, so it's not a huge ask, timewise.
If you're transgender, or if you know someone who might have a few minutes to spare, I would truly appreciate it!

@orionkidder @swanchime Yeah, I once wrote a trans side character and I just don't feel very good with that depiction, even though I had a #SensitivityReader. When I worked with that person on a story we wrote together, this worked way better

For the 1st time ever, a sensitivity reader is going over one of my soon-to-be published novels.

I AM SO NERVOUS

I believe I have treated the sensitive subject matter with respect and grace and depth of thought--and I did do research--but obviously I'm biased.

Also, in all my years of writing and publishing, this is the first time I've ever let a complete stranger read one of my unpublished novels.

I am looking for a sensitivity reader for nonbinary representation in a Good Omens fanfiction short story (AU, alternative universe).

All the characters are humans and there are no supernatural elements. Both main characters are on the ace spectrum. One of the main characters is agender and uses they/them pronouns. I deliberately do not disclose if they are amab or afab (assigned male/female at birth). Also, they do not take off their clothes and there is no sex scene.

Length of the fanfiction: ca. 6050 words (that would be approx. 27 pages in a paperback book)

Tropes/themes: Slow burn, pining, friends to lovers, café, rock music (and other music genres), concert, fundraiser, crowdfunding, book shop, wholesomeness, four queer characters, no queermisia

Content warnings: drugs (only mentioned), alcohol (not much), Corona pandemic and Covid-19 (mentioned several times)

Please note that I am not a native speaker. I cannot pay you for the sensitivity reading. But I can offer to beta-read a fanfiction (length: short story) or original fiction short story of yours. I cannot comment on your writing style, as I am not a native speaker, but I can comment the characters, pacing, structure of the story etc.

Digging back into my #WIP and my notes for ‘Hastily Revised Bestiary’ for #WritingWonders has made me realise I need to get a #SensitivityReader , or three or four, in to go over some of it with me. Especially a #Jewish sensitivity reader, as I really REALLY do not want to fall into the antisemitic global conspiracy trap. My Big Bad IS a conspiracy of sorts, but it’s more akin to white colonialism. Really got to make sure I don’t fall into the traps though 😤
