"We do random arrests […] mass executions, burn villages for the simple urge to destroy.
«The Italians have become worse than the Germans» — you hear it everywhere: it sums up the feelings of the #Slovenians towards us."
Fascist official Umberto Rosin, writing #Otd in 1942.

POPOTNIK
Ko hodiš,
pojdi zmeraj do konca.
Spomladi do rožne cvetice,
poleti do zrele pšenice,
jeseni do polne police,
pozimi do snežne kraljice,
v knjigi do zadnje vrstice,
v življenju do prave resnice,
v sebi do rdečice čez eno in drugo lice.
A če ne prideš ne prvič, ne drugič
do krova in pravega kova
poskusi: vnovič
in zopet
in znova.
Tone Pavček (1928-2011)
THE WAYFARER [by Tone Pavček]
When you walk, follow your way to the end.
In spring, to the rose in flower,
in summer, to the ripened wheat,
in autumn, to the well-stocked shelf,
in winter, to the snow-white queen,
in a book, to the last line recorded,
in life, to the very truth,
and in yourself – to a colour shed
over your cheeks blushing red.
If you've failed the first time, the second, then,
in attaining sorts and summits you pursue,
try
again,
once more,
and anew.
