Ulično branje palestinske poezije / Reading of Palestinian Poetry

Another reading of palestinian poetry will take place this thursday at Prešeren square. Every Thursday you can join us in reading verses of cultural resistance. You'll be able to hear works from poets like Mahmoud Darwish, Mosab Abu Toha, Noor Hindi, Refaat Alareer, Ruba Al Falit, Hiba Abu Nada and others.
You can come join simply by listening, or even read a poem yourself - simply step to one of the readers, and you'll be able to chose a poem on the spot. You can also bring poems with you - new suggestions are always welcome!
Weekly reading serve not only as a way of sharing palestinian voices and bringing them to people directly, but also as a meeting point for people from different walks of life, who all share love for poetry and the fight for liberation.
As Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish writes, "every beautiful poem is an act of resistance".

Ko hodiš,
pojdi zmeraj do konca.
Spomladi do rožne cvetice,
poleti do zrele pšenice,
jeseni do polne police,
pozimi do snežne kraljice,
v knjigi do zadnje vrstice,
v življenju do prave resnice,
v sebi do rdečice čez eno in drugo lice.
A če ne prideš ne prvič, ne drugič
do krova in pravega kova
poskusi: vnovič
in zopet
in znova.

When you walk, follow your way to the end.
In spring, to the rose in flower,
in summer, to the ripened wheat,
in autumn, to the well-stocked shelf,
in winter, to the snow-white queen,
