I have finished the #SookieStackhouse novels and oh boy, I have thoughts.

I created another character. So far she’s just been chill. Her name is Briella and she’s a fairy based in the #SookieStackhouse novels. So naturally she’s cool, calm and collected, right?

Can I tell you what a terrible idea I think it is to have a new #TV show starring the actors who played #Vampire Bill and waitress Arlene on #TrueBlood, based on the #SookieStackhouse series of #books?

Especially a crime/comedy show about an #autistic lawyer

Just followed the #Caturday hashtag and found someone posting about just having finished the #SookieStackhouse books by #CharlaineHarris (which were adapted to TV as #trueblood

It reminded me of how obsessed I got with that series. It seems like a thousand years ago but it was in about 2010

I wrote an essay for #KillYourDarlings at the time about binge-reading vs binge-watching, and what happens when an ongoing series of novels diverges from the TV series that was adapted from them

I started reading slower and slower to postpone finishing the series, but tonight it is done.
All thirteen Sookie Stackhouse books, read back to back.

Not 1 but 13, the entire #SookieStackhouse series by #CharlaineHarris. I'd seen the earlier seasons of #TrueBlood on HBO a long time ago. Then I found the first novel in my local charity shop, followed by all the others in time. Couldn't put them down.

Sookie Stackhouse is a much more interesting character in print, meeting vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, demons, fairies, and dealing with them all in her own no-nonsense way.

That year I lived in Bon Temps, LA.

Starting book 4 in the Sookie Stackhouse series and it's getting harder to enjoy them.

I am an uneducated, mayonnaise non-American, but they seem racist and homophobic and terribly rape-y.

I paid for them, so probably will read them all, but damn, what a waste of a great subject and characters.

@Nickiquote According to the excellent #CharlaineHarris, in the #SookieStackhouse novels, #Elvis was turned into a vampire by a morgue attendant. Unfortunately, due to all the drugs (topped off by the #Covid shot, no doubt), he came through the process a bit doolally. He goes by the name of Bubba now, gets very upset when people use his old name, and really loves cats. So keep yours safe when he's around. He can still sometimes be persuaded to sing.
