New Standard for Enterprise AI Data Integration 🌐

🔗 #Anthropic launches Model Context Protocol (#MCP), an #opensource standard enabling seamless connection between #AI systems and enterprise data sources

💻 Local MCP server support added to #Claude Desktop with pre-built connectors for #GitHub, #Slack, #GoogleDrive, #Git, and #Postgres

🤝 Early adopters #Block and #Apollo integrate MCP, while #Zed, #Replit, #Codeium, and #Sourcegraph enhance their development platforms

🛠️ Developers can start testing with existing #Claude for Work accounts, access pre-built MCP servers, and contribute to open-source repositories

🔄 Protocol eliminates need for separate connectors, allowing AI systems to maintain context across different tools and datasets

I used to recommend Cody from Sourcegraph as a replacement for Copilot, but now I'm not so sure.

It is unusable in a couple of my repos because it likes to add context from my CHANGELOG, which contains the phrase "reset the session", which it thinks breaks its own Acceptable Use Policy.

The only way to exclude files from context is to pay twice as much for the Enterprise version.

So Cody literally breaks itself unless I pay twice as much.

Wow, Sourcegraph made their repository private, when it was previously source-available (code publicly available, but proprietary) and before that open-source.

Once again, this is why Contributor's License Agreements (CLAs) are bad. They allow owners of the project to abuse the terms of the CLA. You are very much giving your rights to them.

Don't contribute to software with a CLA.

🌗 Sourcegraph 陷入黑暗
➤ 處理 Sourcegraph 轉為私有的過程中作者如何保存資料
eric-fritz.com/articles/source

Just started trying the #Sourcegraph Cody tool, trying to compare it with the #Github Copilot and others, first attractive thing about it is it seems to be (still) opensource.

At first glance it seems to be ecqually invasive, key shortcut is just [TAB] which makes it harder to reject the code injections than accept them; I bet this even alters their own data thinking the autogenerated code block was amazing.

I'm glad to see that the extension is now generally available. This is one of my favorite tools: sourcegraph.com/blog/cody-for-

😮 The latest version of Cody (free tier) does unlimited local GPT autocomplete and chat in VSC (free (you already knew that)) *in one step*: Ensure Ollama is running, then choose from (free) models you've downloaded.

Total cost: A few minutes of bandwidth to download an LLM (~5GB). No subs. No fees. Nuthin'.

Ollama (yeah: it's free, too): ollama.com

Sourcegraph is probably one of the shitter interfaces I've used, and the fact that it's been 6 years and they still refuse to allow people to change the font size is telling github.com/sourcegraph/sourceg

Do you use #ai assistants in your IDE? Until now, I was skeptical and due to the questionable pricing and terms of use, I stayed away from it.

However, I've been playing a bit with the free tier of #codyai from #sourcegraph over the last few days, and I have to say that I've actually found it surprisingly helpful to assist with repetitive tasks like code documentation and unit testing.

Which of the #AI #coding assistants will turn you into a 10x developer? #ChatGPT? #GitHub #Copilot? #Tabnine? #AWS Code Whisperer? #Bard? #Sourcegraph #Cody? #CodiumAI?

#Sourcegraph’s #LLM was hacked last week. Scrotes labored for days to make it available free.

Some #PII might have leaked, too. The company isn’t sure. In today’s #SBBlogwatch, we check our GitHub repos (yet again). At #TechstrongGroup’s #SecurityBlvd: securityboulevard.com/2023/09/

What's the point of having a chatbot if it's not clear what the code does even to the said chatbot? It's somewhat funny and sad at the same time.

@BoredomFestival Don’t know the guy, can’t speak to his motivation. He didn’t stay long at that gig anyway; now he’s at #Sourcegraph
