Late Fall fog has descended on the Rogue Valley in Southern Oregon. Days of valley fog, blanketing everything in wet, white mist. We can barely see our neighbors, let alone the valley floor. Our usually expansive view has been reduced to about 50 feet of visibility. Heat’s on, music is turned up, and we’re playing with the cats. #PNW #Oregon #CountryLife #SouthernOregon

I start my Sunday mornings with the #NPR show ‘Sunday Baroque’ on our #ClassicalMusic station, then at noon… the ‘American Music’ show comes on and I bail to our other NPR service: Rhythm & News for the Sunday Jazz program. I do that because (possibly unpopular opinion follows) American classical music is a joke, a cross between movie scores and circus marches. Oh I know… what about Copeland, Ives, Bernstein and Glass? Don’t really like any of them TBH. But I do love the Baroque period. We’re lucky where I live in #SouthernOregon as we have a local NPR station at SOSU with 3 services. Jefferson Public Radio covers the largest geographic service area of any nat’l NPR station, extending a couple hundred miles in each direction. You too can listen to a live stream at ijpr.org.

View looking south across Southern Oregon’s #RogueValley this Autumn afternoon. A real change from recent foggy days. Bright, sunny and brisk. Robins are feasting on our Madrone tree berries and making a pleasant racket… #Oregon #PNW #SouthernOregon #CountryLife

A scenic view of rolling hills and mountains in the Rogue Valley under a partly cloudy sky. The foreground features a landscape of trees with autumn foliage, including shades of orange and red, and a grassy area. The background includes distant mountains and a valley.

Whoa… def a storm blowing in at the moment in #SouthernOregon - rain has started and gusty winds are blowing Fall leaves from the trees. Looks like it’s gonna blow a gale out there. #PNW #Oregon #Weather

Waiting for the first real rain of Autumn in a valley full of wildfire smoke. Rain forecast for today and tomorrow. Really hoping it’s more than just a drizzle. It’s long past time to put #PNW summer wildfire season behind us. #Oregon #SouthernOregon #wildfires #weather

Oof, #MoonComplex fire smoke is looking awful.

We’ve got this sweet little patch of adorable miniature Asters just inside our deer-fenced garden gate. Had to share. #Oregon #SouthernOregon #PNW #gardening #BloomScrolling

We’re getting smoky skies and diminished air quality in Southern Oregon’s Rogue Valley - from fires just across the border in N. Calif’s Siskiyou County. I count 12 fires, the largest ones are 0% contained. We’re waiting desperately for the first rains of Fall, which are predicted next week. We’ll see how that goes. #SouthernOregon #Oregon #RogueValley #wildfires #WildfireSmoke #GlobalWarming #ClimateChange

On another note… we’ve got a small flock of wild turkeys roaming down in the ‘wild’ and untended corner of the property. We try to maintain wildlife corridors on our rural, wildlands-adjacent 8 acre property. Heard a fox shrieking last night (no, they don’t bark), and we have skunks, wild hares, coyotes, the occasional raccoon, lots of deer, and a small army of ground squirrels (the bane of serious gardeners). #CountryLiving #RuralLife #SouthernOregon #Oregon

A rural scene featuring several trees and dry grass, with the presence of wild turkeys in the foreground. Fencing is visible in the background, suggesting a farm-like setting.

I call this one: moon through the maple. Taken with my iPhone sitting on my back veranda enjoying the view across the Rogue Valley in #SouthernOregon.

A rising full moon appears behind silhouetted trees, with a soft glow illuminating the sky and clouds in the background.

Sitting on my back veranda enjoying the evening lights across the #RogueValley and the crickets singing when two barn owls started talking to each other in nearby trees. Barn owls don’t hoot like Great Horned Owls, they trill, so when they talk to each other it’s quite magical. (See the banner pic on my profile to see the daytime view from my back veranda. At night, the Valley and surrounding hillsides all light up). #PNW #SouthernOregon #Oregon #CountryLife #RuralLife #EnjoyingLife

102 degrees (39 C) in the shade in the #RogueValleyOregon region today. At least it’s dry heat, but still… like stepping into an oven. Garden’s watered. Shade cloths up protecting most of our veggies from sunburn. Got a kids pool for our two pigs and goats. Could be worse tho, as smoke from regional fires has spared us so far. Profound heat + wildfire smoke is the worst; making it barely breathable. #SouthernOregon #weather

We had a real red moon rising last night, likely due to the many wildfires in the region. #Moon #SouthernOregon #RogueValleyOregon

A vibrant red moon is rising over a city skyline, with silhouettes of trees in the foreground. The horizon displays shades of orange and purple against a dusky sky. Lights from the city can be seen twinkling below.
