Questo film in pratica rivisita la fiaba di #Cenerentola, ma in chiave #horror, ribaltando completamente (senza rinnegarla mai) l'idea del bene e della bellezza. Ma dentro ci mette anche un bellissimo film d'epoca in costume (magistralmente realizzato per essere un film indipendente) e una furia iconoclasta davvero irresistibile, il tutto senza MAI essere moralista o manierista

Listened to the the beginning of The Girl Next Door by Jack Ketchum, which is pleasant enough and feels very real and lived in but I know by reputation it gets A LOT more fucked up. I picked up the audiobook a couple months ago and have put off listening to it, but no longer.

No.809: 'Helldriver' is a J-Splatter zombie flick from the crown-prince of the genre, Yoshihiro Nishimura. A cannibalistic serial killer is struck by a meteorite shortly after eating her husband's legs. This transforms her into a zombie queen and also releases a mist which turns 6 million people into zombies.
There's a surprisingly thoughtful sub-plot about zombie rights and legions of rampaging undead causing a refugee crisis along with a food and hosting shortage. However, that's just fluff really because the meat(!) of the thing is absurd action, gallons of blood and a lot of very improbable physics. This is a movie which features a jumbo jet made of zombies, powdered by two missiles. Yes, the overall joke is definitely stretched too far but it's hard to criticise a film bursting with so many original ideas.
