For people going on about what the Founders wanted:
The Founders weren't too big on taxation without representation. DC has a larger population than several states in this country. Those people are as deserved of representation in Congress as anyone else and they shouldn't have to move or be shoved into another state (which the people in those states don't want, either) to receive it. #StatehoodForDC
Residents of the DC area have no representation in the House or Senate. No one the can call to make their voices heard on issues important to them. The rest of us need to call our Senators and tell them to pass #StatehoodForDC and give them the representation they deserve. This is our chance to use our voices for those who can't.
Statehood supporters will target the Senate, where opposition is strong but leaders have promised a hearing.

Move across Western Avenue, Eastern Avenue, Southern Avenue, or the Potomac River, and you get representation in Congress — because you now live in a place with Toyota dealers and landfills? No other country treats citizens of its capital as inconvenient residents of someplace it colonized. #StatehoodForDC
