I would describe it, but I have no idea! It looks like the prongs of a teeny fork built into a belt buckle.

My somewhat less-than-impressive first crop of sweetcorn from the allotment 🙂 Only just over half the cob fertilised, but I'm not too surprised as only six plants made it past the slugs to flowering. BeetBear got the remaining corn from this summer's crop pulled up and into the cart. He always plans it so that the first hill planted is the last one removed. Before removal he stops to pay his respects to the corn spirits and give thanks for the excellent crop supplied. He says dad can take care of the shredding business, because he isn't going anywhere near that noisy contraption. 😀

It's a nice, dry, cool-ish day so it's time to start clearing out the corn stalks. We use a garden fork to make sure we get up a lot of the roots and stack everything up off the ground, getting ready for the shredder. We LOVE our sweet corn, so we don't mind the effort of cleanup. Had a good year. 😀 🌽

Well, it started on July 26th with our first picking, and ended today, one month later, with our last picking for the year. Lots of good eats along the way. BeetBear has declared the harvest over and it was a great year, but lots of work. It's going to be a long wait for our next corn crop to start!😀 🌽

Got some stuff set out for the neighbors this afternoon. The last 3 cukes, what is probably the last okra, some jalapeños, eggplant, tomatoes, zucchini, and squash. More corn tonight but we're getting to the end now. Maybe one more picking, two if I'm lucky. Only counting these as 8 ears tonight. Will post pix of the rejects later.

A beautiful day here. Had to take the floofy cat to the vet today, so no harvesting (except for corn, of course). Did get some general yard work in after lunch. Nice being outside when the sun isn't trying to melt your brain. If anyone is interested, I took a shot of the corn patch just before I picked this afternoon. Lots of goodies still to be had in there! Happy corning everyone! 😀

Much cooler today, almost Autumnal. Temps around 75°F (~24°C) all day. Had more pep today, so a little bit of everything got picked. I keep thinking the zukes and cukes have had it, but keep finding more. With today's corn picking we smashed through our old record of 219 ears harvested. Now at 222 with still LOTS more coming. Skunks be warned: We are watching you!
